I'm glad he's alright. The dragon isn't a playground. It is pretty fun until you fly off the mountain though.
Did he put any parts on the "tree of shame?" I was gonna leave my hood, but I needed it for the ride home.

Great pics!
I'm really glad to here he was okay. I talked to Mike this evening, and my heart sunk when he told me what happened. I'm soo SO glad he was okay, despite what happened to his car. I heard it cost him close to $400 to tow the car back to the road.
I still want to make it up there badly. One of these days, I guess. Until then... InitialD Ver3!

Hahaha... tingly!
Yeah it's relatively close to ATL. It's only a couple hours away. I've never been up there, but have always wanted to make a run.

omg. i think i have found a piece of heaven on america. 11miles of fun. i...must...go....there, i must drift. ooooohhhh.
no but seriously this looks like a bad ass run to take. the section labeled "the chicanes" looks like a fantastic set. you could probably hit that with out catching traction at all. have you guys heard a lot about people drifting up there or what? the only thing that sucks is i would have to bring a trailor to drag my car back with what ever i blew up out there. two hours is a long way with a blown motor.

I had a friend go up there with a 95 supra and came back with a ~fubar~ supra. He came around the corner to find a BIG truck.... luckly he decided to go into the mountain instead of the front of the Big rig. The FOERST time i go up there.... iam going to learn the road as best as possible b4 i start playing on it. Its no joke there...

The Dragon was an absolute blast!!! The weather was gorgeous. The scenery was spectacular. And the road was perfect to say the least.
Before going up there, I was extremely paranoid b/c of what everyone was saying. "don't ever, ever, ever, EVAH cross the center line!" So, I started off pretty slow. But around mile 3 or 4 I got bored and decided to go balls to the wall! Not too extreme, but enough to see how my car reacted to the twist and turns of the road. It also shows you what needs to be upgraded or replaced on your car. For instance, my brakes started fading half way through which forced me to slow down. As far as drifting is concerned....i won't recommend it. There are way too many blind corners and motorcycles up there. However, on particular (wide-open) corners, I kicked it out a couple of times; just some power-overs..nothing special.
Overall it was an awesome experience that I highly recommend to all of you. But like Charlie said.....it not a playground; your FOERST wrong move will be your(or your car's) last. The Dragon is very unforgiving. So, if you go be very alert and very prepared for anything.

I think the reason that the Dragon is so dangerous is because of its shock value. Once you cross the bridge and start heading up the hill towards the gas station, you see the FOERST couple of twists that are laid out closed course car commercial style and you're like HOLY SHIT! You start having so much fun, that you let your guard down, thinking it's ok to go just a little faster. Since I've never delivered tofu, I guess I let my concentration stray.
I remember the integra kid with no bumper covers saying over the radio once..."those are my favorite three corners in GA." and they were awesome. Probably the best that we hit all day. The ENTIRE dragon is like that. It's a little overwhelming. That being said, I'm not going back until it snows.
or until I swap out the GD all seasons.
