My rear strut brace...

Post by andysapp »

I dropped a rear strut brace in the e46 last week. It feels great! Looking back, now - I should have done this sooner. It's titanium - so it's super light. I didn't like the idea of cutting my trunk carpet - so I just pulled it all out.

Oh yeah - I pulled my passenger seat for the cage install (that didn't happen). That thing weighed a friggin ton. Seriously - I almost passed out carrying it up to our apartment, lol. Mmmm... drrrty carrrpet! :D

Hellz yeah! I'll definitely keep ya posted. Ol grrrl's on her way to becoming a different car, lol. I think it's safe to say I'm checking all the luxury at the door, and opting for an all out drift machine!

Hey Andy, is that you're cup of coffee that you try not to spill while drifting to and from work?

I can't believe you didn't do that earlier either. Looks awesome though. I <3 Titanium.

Is there a thread where you explain why the livermoreperformance.com roll cage is a death trap?

Not completely... cause I'm not trying to bash anyone's work... it's not Livermore Performance's fault - it's all on AutoPower in my book. I know the cage is made for a street car... but the gapping was rediculous. The front bar that extends across the top of the windsheild (but not very near it), was about 4-5 inches from where my forehead crests into my nose. Add padding to that, and I may as well been driving around with my head resting on it. Since this car will still be a streetable car - I need it safer than that.

After some serious thought, and advise from several people with more experience than I, I decided that my safety, and my life are worth it to get a cage fabbed up that will protect me... not endanger me. I don't want to be cruising around towne in a death trap. I'm out $200 on the AutoPower cage... not to mention the cost of getting the cage fabbed - but it's all worth it. This is one expense for the car that I don't care about the cost. :)
