Had You Heard of Falken Tyres Two Years Ago?

Post by andysapp »

I got to thinking about what a HUGE financial turnaround Falken Tyres has had through massive exposure via drifting, so I figured I would post a poll to see what everyone else thought about the subject.

Had you heard of Falken Tyres... or better yet - would you have considered purchasing a set of Falken Tyres two years ago?

Personally... I had heard of them vaguely - only through Gran Turismo, and seeing the Falken Skyline GTR running JGTC - but I would have never thought of purchasing their tyres. Fast forward to 2005, and I've already burned through several sets.

I think it's interesting how their success has trickled far beyond the drifting community, and now just about every other FF Honda I see is sporting Falken Tyres and Falken stickers all over the place. I think it's amazing how they took a chance supporting drifting the way they did, and have made such an enormous turnaround with sales as a result.

I'm impressed!

Bwaahaha... apparently, there is a huge difference between people I've had this discussion with, and everyone on this site, lol.

Maybe I was completely wrong, and Falken's been a major tyre contender this whole time. ;)

hey andy it seems that you have been talkin to the "rice boi's" and not real racers. most of the auto-xer's in abalambala where i used to live loved the falken tires. and then at the "illegal" street races i would go to just to laugh at the honda civics and their "bumble-bee" mufflers, and they wouldn't know shit about falkens, it was always nittos this and nittos that. that and talkin about puttin drag slicks on their street cars, abd then a few days later breakin an axle.

Ask any racer... any real racer... it doesn't matter if you win with Yokos or Toyos... Falkens are Falkens.

Azenis tires have been ripping up the autoX circut for a while now. I'll have to say I rocked a set long before drifting became popular.

i'm not a Falken fan at all. i'm one of the 2 people that said i didn't know about em and won't ever buy em.

i'm loyal to Yokohama and their tires. i'm really glad they're releasing the Advans over here now in more sizes that fit basically everything. those tires have been tearing up the circuits for years over there in Japanland and i can't wait to get a set for my new 7 for auto-x and track day events. drifting wise, i love the feel of the ES100's for drift. nice gradual breakaway and very predictable.

i guess it just comes down to personal preference. i'm not saying Falken are shit, i'm just saying they aren't my cup of tea. until Yoko lets me down i'm sticking with them. :D

I have known about Falkens for a good long time, but they have always been a lil pricey. Before I got into the whole RWD craze I was an AWD guy and buy 4 tires at once wasnt nice to my wallet, so I opted out of buying the "good" shyt.
