Spinning tyres for blocks and blocks...

Post by andysapp »

I meant to post this up yesterday, seeing as it's when it happened... but better late then never!

It had slightly misted rain yesterday while I was at lunch... just enough to make the pavement that "purrrrfect" shade of slick. I was at the stoplight crossing 9th St, headed towards 10th St. The light turned green, and I spun through FOERST gear... I made sure I hit second equally as hard. Low and behold, I spun from the cross-section of 9th, all the way to 10th! I was just feathering the throttle, keeping the wheels spinning. It was way rad, and just what I need on my lunch break! I could have kept going, but I came up on train-tracks... so I let off the throttle.

Ahhh, mid-city driving antics during the workday.
It doesn't get any better than that.

Hahaha!! Rawk!!!
Nothing feels better than traction loss.
Ahhhhh!
:D

I just went out drifting in the storm. It was way rad!
The wind would throw my angle further sometimes... and in the same respect, it would push me back sometimes when I had too much angle.

I went flying through a mud puddle... so now my car is covered in mudd!
LOL!

i went offroading several times yesterday on the way to the shop in the maxipad, that thing has tons of clearance. a very very large tree had fallen on the new section of satellite and blocked both lanes going toward hwy20, so i just rock crawled the max up over the curb, across the grass median to the oncoming side, down a little ways and then crossed back at the next turnaround spot in the median. that tree was f'in huge. it fell from about 50 feet away from the road up on a hill, and was so tall it managed to block 2 full lanes of the road and 3/4 of the way across the 15 ft wide median  . there were a few other noteworthy trees down along the route, but i took the back way just to see that kind of stuff. wish my little bro would've returned my got damn digicam!

Dayom!! Did you see the tree fall, or had it already fallen? Glad you're okay! Have you guys seen the cover of the Journal-Constitution today? It's insane! A bridge collapsed, and the Civic that was landed on by a tree on Piedmont Ave. This was an craaazy effing storm!

the mx3 definately broke traction twice and almost got sorta sideways (for a slow ass FWD car) on the way to work today . i think i'm gonna make it my fun drift car now and put the S14 on daily driver status :).

nah, the one on satellite was down already. there was one on camp branch road that fell in front of me though, took down 2 powerlines with it and snapped the tops off the 2 closest telephone poles.

hey i also went driving in the storm. at turnerfield too. so i had a huge lot with wet asphalt. set the teins to 3 front and 1 rear. started a circle at 20mph. then floored it and cut the wheel tighter. nothin but understreer. so i ried the same thing, but this time i tapped the brake then dropped gears and floored it. nothin but understeer. so i tried it again, but this time turning out of the circle before ripping it the other way. still understeer. after another failed attempt i began trying "the flick" to shift the weight to start a drift. this time the GC8 simply hugged the road while i turned the wheel as fast as i could from one side to the other. after this i tried going str8 then made a semi-circle left at 20-30 then cut hard while braking and downshifting then slam the gas. understeer.
the harder i tried to get the back out the more understeer it produced.

thus I MUST HAVE DCCD!!!!!!!!! and to do so i have to get the GC8 (with JDM Ver6 STI EJ20 and the DCCD) to LA and then have it sent back. of course i would prolly figure some way of going with the car like on a train or something to LA. anyone wanna help?

DCCDeez Tyler. Learn to love your fucking awesome traction. GEEZ! What in the world do you have to gain from doing an AWD donut??? Besides, the DCCD isn't what's important. What you need is torque. Once you get your swap completed DCCD or not you'll probably be able to break it loose if that's really what you want. Until then just love and embrace your GC8 that will probably outhandle any of the DM's. (yeah you too Hooman:D) Just go whoop up on some SCCA kids and you'll feel better. I don't want this to sound like an attack at all but getting upset that you can't break traction in your car IN THE RAIN is just absurd. I really envy the way your car feels on offramps, corners etc. and really DON'T like all the noise that comes from my Pumas in the same situations. I could probably pull the 20mph trick if I wanted, especially in the rain but I would trade that for your traction any day (and most likely will soon  )

Sorry for the long post. After reading yours I just have that feeling like when you see a beautiful girl with a guy that doesn't seem to appreciate her. I know you love your AWD. You've stressed that a million times to me. But don't get mad at it when it won't turn lose. Please take my advice: Play more GT3 (to get your dori rocks off  ), watch a little less Initial D, and embrace your HANDLING MONSTER!!!

btw, what you really need my friend is a MOUNTAIN RUN.

oops...

did I say the magic words?...

oh shit, now I guess we all have to hit dahlonega soon. DAMN ME!!

sorry guys.

Nice Andy.... I'm inferring that you went up to 2nd gear and wound that out before you hit the trax?
