Electronic trailer brake controller recommends

Post by Rhoad Racing »

The only thing I need to finish up the tow package on the Jeep is a module/controller for the electronic brakes on the trailer. I don't even know where to begin. Any info recommendations?
Looking to spend no more than $50 on the controller itself if at all possible.

I have the Tekonsha Prodigy, and I fucking love the thing... except for the fact that it stopped working and I can't figure out why.

Chris, for what it is worth... I say it is worth the money. I would definitely go for one with an accelerometer in it so you don't have to be manually doing it every time you want to stop.

Agreed. Im willing to pay good money for a quality product when it comes to this. Even for piece of mind if nothing else.

Turns out my Dad found his brake controller. Not sure what brand it is, but Im heading down to SC in a couple of weeks to pick it up and have it professionally installed.

the one i'm using is by Pilot.. dial on the side to set the braking force, and a button for emergency lockup. was about $50.00. i have it mounted facing up at me on the center armrest. easy reach if i need it. about the size of a radar detector..

the hemi 'rango was pre-wired for the electronics/hitch, just had to tap into the brake switch under the dash for the control.. and mount it.

Most modern trucks/suv's are pre wired.

Yeah I opted for the $19 harness that just plugged right in. Totally worth it!
