Crank wobble?
Yes sir. The key broke and the key way on the crank wore away and the key disappeared.

Ah, very familiar with that one (unfortunately). Fixed a few of those in my time.

Everything is ready to go... just waiting on shipping now. Should ship Monday, Lord willing...

I very much dislike this waiting game.

Not like it makes any difference I can't work on the car for at least another two weeks anyway :(

Once it arrives I'll have:

VK56DE
370Z Trans
Adapter plate
Flywheel
ACT Clutch
Two Sets of 1400CC Busa ITB's

What's next:

With my next few paychecks I'll be getting a TIG Welder and a Plasma Cutter and with it I plan to make lots of things. Oil pan being one, a floor mount pedal set up being the other since I can't run the brake booster. I need to do some research on cylinder sizing. I'm going to use the Tilton set out of our Formula car at tech to figure out mounting positions and measurements to work with tilton cylinders and go from there.

Once I get the motor in I'll start worrying more about wiring and ECU. I have an idea but need to do some more research.

But right now I'm still waiting...

Just bought a cheap TIG welder and Plasma cutter

Image

http://www.eastwood.com/ew-tig200-versa-cut-kit.html

For car work it's easily the best bang for the buck. Will weld anything up to a 1/4" and cut up to 3/8". Which is the most I would use it for. Plus it has a 110 converter and our shop currently has no 220 outlets which is another big plus. And the TIG welder is the only inexpensive one that comes with a foot pedal that I could find.

Wow, that's not a bad price for a bundle like that, especially if it holds up well.

So I did some test fitting with the new transmission..

This is how as far as it would go.

And this is the reason why:

Thus the need to make a new oil pan. I honestly thing that if I had the pan I would be able to slide it in place.

Here is the trans location . I don't think I'm going to need to modify the fire wall nearly as much as I had thought

Image

And as you can see here the stock shifter on the trans will need to be shortened and will probably need to relocate the shifter hole.

And finally the engine and trans apart and the engine back on the stand.

I got a lot to think about. I cut down the intake to get the runners by themselves and with the ITBs on there it's just as tall, if not taller than the stock plenum. I expected that but it's gonna be tricky to make it work. I'm gonna try to figure something out though.

I am going to tackle the oil pan next. Once I'm back in January I'll be able to tear into it and get something figured out.

The welder and plasma cutter should be here next week, pretty excited.

Our shop has a couple of new additions,

They were running dry sump systems which use a flat pan since the oil is stored in a tank, the pan is just deep enough for the pump to scavenge the oil. Mucho dinero though for the pan/pump/lines/tank.

Yeah the pan alone is a pretty penny. My welder and plasma came it so I'm hoping over the break I'll get something going on the oil pan.
