Tracy is working on a drifting event for the ladies. She will probably make an announcement in a few days.

Daniel is also trying to do some things for the drift gang.

D1 Gran Prix has a tentative date for July 2 and 3 to host an event at the speedway.

Hot Import Nights is looking to schedule a date and it will include drifting.

Motorsport Nationals will have drifting competition at their event in September.

We, the speedway, would love to coordinate and host more drifting events. We have tackled some of the insurance issues and continue to work on others.

Keep tuned to our website for more news.

AMS Events wrote:Atlanta Motor Speedway invites you to join us for some drag racing and show-n-shine fun beginning on Friday, April 30th.

The Friday Night Drags and Show-N-Shine encompasses a night of street drag racing (15 divisions, including three classes designed for import makes and models) and a car show that includes a speedway cruise on the high banks, awards ceremony on the front stretch and a champions showcase at the Labor Day NASCAR race weekend.

In 2009, the event averaged nearly 5,000 spectators each night, 250 drag racers and just under 100 show-n-shine entries.

The drag racing is street drag racing. No timing system, no starter tree. Just a person who lines you up, drops their arms and you race to the line. The winner moves on to the next round, the loser heads to the pits to hang with friends! All division final round winners receive a trophy and there is a points championship for the top drivers at season end.

The show-n-shine has a half dozen categories and two special awards (one for the top student entry and a president's choice award). The top three judged vehicles in each category wins some hardware. The winners in each category is invited back to participate in the car show during the pre-race ceremonies of the NASCAR Sprint Cup event on Sunday, September 5th. This is a really cool deal for the winners!

Spectator tickets are only $7. This includes access to the pit area, car show, trackside starting line and the infield. Coolers (size limited to 12 x 12 x 12) and lawn chairs are allowed. Many fans bring grills and hang out in the infield prior to the drag races.

Drag race entry is $20. Tech officials will determine your classification. Rules are available on our website (listed below).

Show-N-Shine entry is $20. This includes the speedway cruise. Car show entries are allowed parking space inside the NASCAR garage (space is limited - FOERST serve, FOERST come).

Outside paved parking is FREE. Infield parking is $20 per car or truck. Motorcycle parking is FREE (outside or inside).

Infield opens at 6pm. Drag tech garage opens at 6pm.
Drag practice runs begin at 6:15pm.
Grandstand gates open at 6:30pm.
Show-N-Shine judging opens at 6:30pm.
Drag practice runs end at 8:15pm.
Show-N-Shine Speedway Cruise at 8:15pm.
Drag Racing Driver's meeting at 8:30pm.
Show-N-Shine Awards Ceremony at 8:50pm.
Opening Ceremonies at 9:10pm.
Drag Race Eliminations begin at 9:15pm.

or call 770-946-3954.

Come on out and have some fun!!!
