Notice to Participants – Ignition Showoff Drift Event

Post by andysapp »

Date: May 29 th ~30th, 2004
Place: Miami – Homestead Raceway

To all participants of Ignition Drift Showoff Event:

Our crew and those from the production team at Ignition Drift Event would like to thank you for your enthusiasm an d participation in this drift event.  I'd like to brief you on the activities of both days as drift event participant and keep you informed about what should be expected for this event.

Throughout the last month, many elements have been added to this even t and it has grown in contents through participation of additional supporters.  The in addition to the Ignition Showoff car-show, the sound off competition, and drag races happening on other parts of the venue, we will showcase, as drifters, the following elements in this event.

Saturday: D1 Grand Prix Driver Search Event and Practice. ?@

The Driver Search is an event catered to the selection of drivers who wish to compete on Saturday to secure a spot in the upcoming D1 Grand Prix USA Points Series happen ing in August.  The participation in this Driver Search contest is purely optional for those who signed up for the Drift Practice session for Saturday.  The drift practice will take place in the temporary drift course behind the main grandstands at Homest e ad.  The latter half of the day will take the participants for the D1 Driver Search to the infield course for a contest that lasts approximately 2.5 hours.  One should expect to get between 3~5 runs on the infield course for this contest.  For those of yo u who wish to rather stay in the practice area, you may opt to stay and practice.  For most of the day, instructors are available for any questions you may have and we ?f ll try our best to improve your skills during the course of two days.

Because D1 Grand P rix events are captured on film for DVD series in Japan and in the USA, camera crew will be present to shoot the course of the day.  Video Option's Keiichi Tsuchiya (Drift King) and myriads of professional staff will be present for judging and also partly to instruct and coordinate the event.  We may ask for a delay in some portions of the event to accommodate the video crew, but I hope we can minimize this by having the drivers briefed in advance.

Details of this portion of the event will be presented at the driver's meeting (mandatory) at 8:30am.  You can choose whether to partake in the Driver's Search or not at that point.  For more details on minute by minute schedule of events, please refer to the separate file attached.

Sunday: Drift Practice and F alken Drift Showoff Competition.

Sunday will begin much like that of previous day and start off with practice sessions in the outer practice area.  The afternoon session will consist of the Falken Drift Showoff competition where all of the drivers will fi ght for the cash and giveaway prizes for this main featured event.  Judges will consist of Team Falken Demo Drivers and others.  Judged on the same track layout as the D1 Driver Search event, this part of the competition is where you win.  Again, please r e fer to the day schedule for details.

REMINDER:

Driver entrance and roll-in will take place behind the raceway, from the rear entrance of the Homestead Raceway.  Drivers upon checking in at gates will be escorted to the paddock area on the other end of the venue.  Please note that car show and drag racers will also enter through the rear entrance so please check for our staff and present them with your name and credentials or ID to expedite the process.  This will be a remote event for us as well but we will try our best to eliminate delays.

Gates will be open for drivers at 6:00am, Please arrive by 7:30am in order to allow enough time for your paddock setup.  Driver's meeting will be at 8:30am each morning and no drivers will be permitted to run without attending the morning driver's meeting.

As mentioned in the previous email from the production offices, drivers will have free pit access credentials as well as one other crew member for each entry.  All additional assistants will be asked to pay the ad mission fees imposed by the production.  (This wasn't my choice!)

All said, please feel free to call me at anytime for any questions you may have at (310)xxx-xxxx . My name is Moto and I will be handling the coordination for both days for drifters and I will try my best to answer any questions you may have.  This production has elements and needs of Japan's crew and remote crew as well as local crew, so there may be last minute changes that take place over th e week but I try my best to see to it that it becomes a fun event for us all, the drivers!!

Thank you and we will see you there!!!

Wait, so if I show up in the morning to register, will I not get in the gate because of credentials? I wonder if they are setting up a registration area outside of the speedway.

No, I think the credentials apply to people who are pre-registered.
They will probably have registration outside the event...
kinda like Nopi was last year.
