15 sec. challenge at SDR (drag race?!)

Post by AFSil80 »

Ok, I know that most, if not EVERYONE, on here has very little interest in drag racing.

HOWEVER. The FOERST 15 sec challenge was an absolute BLAST, so we're doing it again!

On June 27th, there is an opportunity for many of you to make some money. Last time had 23 entries, and the guy who won took home $200, and he was running his girlfriends Scion tC that was bone stock aside from an axle-back TRD exhaust. His best time was a 15.5! Not even close to a 15.000!

How do you know if you qualify to participate:
Does your car run?
Does your car move without the wheels falling off?
Can it pass basic tech?

If you answered yes, THEN YOU ARE GOOD TO GO!

Details!

When – June 27, 2009
Where - Silver Dollar Raceway
Who - Anyone who likes to race
What - 15 second race presented by JJSPEC Racing and Silver Dollar Raceway. If you run any quicker than 15.00 seconds you will be eliminated. Unless there is a double breakout, in which the least offender will advance to the next round.
How much - Buy a tech card which is $25 (including entry fee to the track).

Payout info:
Ed at SDR has said that he will take the $15 out of the tech card/entry fee and pay it back as the purse. The winner will get 50% of the purse, runner up gets 30% and semi's (3rd and 4th place) get 10% each. There will be a bonus $20 for best reaction time. There will be trophies for Winner, Runner up and Reaction Time Winner. Last time winner took $200, runner up got $100 and the lone semifinalist got $50

Time runs start at 2 pm for you to dial in your combo. Racing starts at 3pm and will have to be wrapped up on time. This is a great opportunity for you weekend warriors to work on reaction times and get some passes in and possibly win some money racing! Tell your friends, bring your cars and lets have fun. Make sure that you have a battery hold down, all your lug nuts, wearing long pants, etc

IT GETS BETTER!

After a long day at the drag strip, I am opening up the doors to the house to you guys, and anyone else who shows up to race/participate. Since I know it's a drive for some of y'all, everyone is welcome to crash at the house.

If you like shit-talking, drinking, and whatever other nonsense, or if you just like chilling out by the pool, I encourage you to swing by the house afterwards.

If anyone has questions regarding any of the day's activities, please feel free to ask!

Not quite. It's an index-style race.

Basically, both cars leave on the same light. The only basic rule is that you cannot go faster than 15.000.

Is there sandbagging? Yes. The last race had quite a bit. The Final round was an SRT-10 Ram vs. a stock tC. The Ram was doing a full pass, but would jam on the brakes at the 1000' mark, and try to coast across the finish line. It worked for most of the day, but he mis-judged the tC (who was driving the piss out of the car) and Joey (tC driver) edged him out. The margin of victory was .007 sec.
