Summer Event Schedule

Post by jo »

I'm trying to make a tentative calander for the upcoming summer season. There is a ton of events going on, so I'm trying to organize a schedule to make it easier to determine what we want to go to and to organize getting together for them. If you know of any upcoming events, please reply with them and I'll add them to the list.

May 23rd--> RPM motorsports grand opening/meet. Everything will be 15% off, and if you save your reciepts on parts bought, you will recieve a discount on installation labor at Batlground. The labor rate drops from $75/hr to $65/hr. Not bad! The address is: 4608 Jimmy Carter Blvd, Suite 4, Norcross, Georgia 30093, 678-937-9983

May 29th - 30th--> Falken Drift Show Off and Clinic @ Homestead, FL http://www.driftshowoff.com/

May 31st--> Batlground Dyno Day and NOPI Car Show (more info @: http://www.batlground.com)

June 5th--> Drift Mechaniks 1st annual 1 hour enduro kart race in Helen, GA.

June 12th--> Import Frenzy 3 @ Dave and Busters in Duluth, GA. Presented by WTN. 75 trophies up for grabs. [sort of conflicts w/ rev-it-up :( ]

June 12th - 13th--> Mazda Rev-it-up @ Atlanta Motor Speedway 7am to 6pm, Sat and Sunday. http://www.mazdarevitup.com/home/f_default.asp

June 19th--> Import Atlanta's Tunerfest Shootout!

July 30th--> My 24th Birthdady Blowout! TBA!

August 21st--> Hot Import Nights @ Georgia International Convention Center

September 18th and 19th--> Nopi nationals - Atlanta Motor Speedway, Featuring a drift exhibition by Team Falken!

well september is technically fall isn't it?:P

I heard nopi was supposed to be earlier this year.... guess not! At least by september I'll have the major mods I want to do already done to my car. I wonder if super street is going to do the tour to nopi again this year.

Yeah, I always consider NopiNats as the end of my summer.
They'll definitely be doing the SuperStreet Tour again this year.
We get the short end of the stick, since we're so close to Atlanta Motor Speedway...
but if I remember correctly, they stop in Spartanburg, SC (2 hours north).
We could in theory... drive up there for the last stop, and head back with the tour.

I beleive everyone on the tour gets to take a touring lap at the speedway as they enter.
You can't speed by any stretch... but it's cool nonetheless.

if you register for a sunday session @ rev-it up you'll have nothing to worry about. both days are the same thing. try to get an early morning run because as the day goes on, the cars get trashed ( eg. tires worn down to nothing ).

np pointing it out though, that's why i'm here ;)

what about the autocrosses at Turner? I cant stress enough how easier and better you can drift if you learn how to autocross good 1st. People who think the can just start drifting a car without any sort of prevoius experience is selling themselfs short IMO. Shifting weight and car control and feeling the balance and much more are all things you can learn on a closed course for $25. Especially since all the people ive seen try to drift around Atlanta (save one or 2) either suck or think a powerslide and/or doughnut is a drift. Its like anything you should learn the fundamentals before you jump into the big stuff.

I only really put up big shows/events, because the autocrosses are so often. I guess you would consider this the "highlights". I definitely agree with you on the technique thing, though. Almost all interviews with drifters I see say the same thing.
