How to not make your own pair of luminous yellow 57D's...

Post by CodyW »

So QC called yesterday and said he was off work and wanted to hang out. This ended up leading up to a quick lunch party with him, myself, Shawn Shawn, and Patrick, followed by a visit to Erin at Sprint where we made fun of redneck people with Nextels. After we got back, Chris noticed a can of hi-liter yellow spray paint I had from a while back and never used and got an idea for his wheels. The goal was to create a nice homemade version of something like the new GramLights 57D's (see below) but it didn't quite work. It was a fun process though, and figured he'd want the pics so here are a few.

This was the goal...

And here was our process...

Overall, they came out pretty offensive. The yellow was a pain to spray (really thin and it was prone to cracking after it dried since we had to use so much paint), and to make it worse Chris said that they pretty much fell apart on the way home and now there are huge spots missing. Oh well, it was a fun way to kill some time :). Sorry about the outcome though Chris, haha. I'm down to help again next time though.

Lots more here for those that are bored: http://codywellons.com/photos/2009.05.11/

hahahahaha, totally offensive. I still think it is funny as hell. I get looks anyways, so it doesn't bother me.

They got primered but we used some gray that I had lying around and I think that's what caused the awkward color shift. After we were haflway through we kinda realized white primer would've been a better idea but we were too lazy to start over, haha. Maybe next time :).

I think he actually has lowering springs already, haha. I'm trying to help track down a good deal on coilovers for him soon though, hopefully something will turn up.
