Need help on some SR parts

Post by djdorifto »

well, since am over in Florida, my contacts over in Cali are pretty much blah, because well of the shipping issue. So maybe i can get some decent pricing that am gonna be needing from my dMs buddies.

About a few days before I was going to leave to florida, my engine was making a wierd low rattle sound from where the turbo is at to the right side of the engine (so think of it like half of the engine to the turbo) kind of like a bunch of leaves being crunched over and over again. So I checked the exhaust for smoke or anything wierd and I saw this liquid type nearing the end of the tip. So I turned it off and surely it was oil. I then turned the car back on and the rattle wasn't there anymore, checked the boostgauge gave a little gas and boost was fine. Gave it some more til the BOV went off and no black or white smoke, nor anymore oil. Took a small drive and rattle was back, but no smoke nor oil. What gives?! So I didn't have time to take it apart, so am thinking i may just get a new turbo.

Shit sorry about that long post, what i need are some pricings on a S14 Turbo or a S15 Turbo. Thanks for any help you guys can give me. L8s!

Well some of us up here may be able to help you, like Mike [funkymunkyFC], but when it comes down to it-- we are still 7 hours from you. You're best bet is to take to Rob [Garage Battle] since he is only 45 minutes to an hour from you. You'll probably get more SR knowledge than you need between him and the other Ants drivers. And they'll know of a good place to get it worked on relatively close to you.

When does the car arrive again?:)

Mid July is only two weeks from now! That isn't so bad!!! At least you get to bring her over. Anyhow, I'd definitely bring it by XAT, and I'd definitely talk with Rob, Tay, and Bill. They pretty much started the drift scene in central florida, so they are good peoples to know!

Don't take the car to XAT. Taylor no longer works there. Apparently the cool thing to do is hire taylor, get to where you need to be, and then fire him. Freaking gay if you ask me.

You have a blown turbocharger to manifold gasket. It pretty much happens every time.

this gasket is the same turbocharger to manifold gasket as comes on the 1990-1996 300ZX Twin Turbo. It's available at any Nissan dealer and usually lists for about $18.36. Not a big deal.
You'll also need to replace your exhaust manifold gasket ( 1991 Nissan Sentra SE-R 2.0 L SR20DE , $12.50 from most Nissan dealerships ) and the copper crush washers that go on your oil supply , water supply, and water return lines for your turbo. Be careful not to destroy the rubber oil return line either.

Welcome to SR life.

the gaskets came right into my mind when I was back in cali with my car. I really hope the turbo isn't gone, cause well the sound came from like right in the middle where the manifold is at. Yeah I basicly wrote down all the parts I can get from other cars, I may have to do this now cause am not close to my friend's shop anymore back in SoCal. Ohwell, hopefully my car will be here very soon so I can take it apart. Thanks again Matt and if I need help i'll be sure to call ya. L8s!
