You think my 01 Nissan Frontier Can Trailer my 240?

Post by djdorifto »

hey guys, well I should have my car like basicly ready for the drift events for next year and well maybe to go up to Atlanta for the Mtn Meets and I want to go to Road Atlanta. So you think my 01 Nissan Frontier can handle to drag my car? Its a KA engine, but its Carbed =D. So what ya think? Or should I opt for a Toyota SR5 V6 4x4?

something to consider: do you have a tow package on the frontier or just a ball on the bumper? i don't think you can pull a car with your bumper. maybe a dolly would work better, but if you don't hook the lights up right you might get rear ended. or you could always sport the huge magnetic tow lights. i like to rock those when i go to birthday parties.

How much torque does the Nissan have vs. the 'Yota?
I don't know much about towing... but it's torque that counts... right?

All of the sites I saw, say that the max towing capacity for the 01 Frontier is between 2000-5000 lbs depending on the model/options.
ConsumerGuide.com wrote:Towing / Payload Capacity Frontier maximum payload ranges from 992 lbs. on supercharged crew cabs to 1650 lbs. on XE regular cabs. Desert Runner payload is 1200 lbs. Trailer towing capacity on 4-cylinder models is 2000 lbs. with automatic transmission, 3500 lbs. with manual transmission. V6 models can tow 3500 lbs. with manual, 5000 lbs. with automatic
So basicly it depends on your model.

woot, mines the 4-cylinder with 5spd, so max would be in the 3500 range. A 240 is around 2600. Shweeet! this covers tools, tires, and any other extra crap. Thanks man!

I towed my AE86 with an automatic 4 cylender camary. I wouldn't advise that though.
If the truck is manual, she'll tow it, just watch all your temperatures and take breakes every thirty minutes for the transmission fluids and oils to cool.
If it's an automatic, don't do it.
*sings* my corolla breaks down more than your corolla!
