its an '06 and it has like 15k+ miles, so i think i'm past warranty :( i'll have to dbl check though

You're out of warranty. I know a few places if this is still an issue, and if push come to shove could manage the job.

i found a SV650 with like 20k miles for $1600. i'm still too poor for that, but i kinda want it.

never got around to calling the guy and i'm still broke, but i still need a bike. if someone knows of something hella low let me know, trying to do some more freelance stuff to possibly help fund one :).
