I haven't really paid any attention to it all year honestly. Not sure what it is, but I just haven't found it that amusing any time I try watching it. Watching people I know (like Dennis) is fun but that's about the only reason I've ever tuned in at all.

Food for thought:

Which engine has less strain when making 500horsepower?

a 400lb 4 cylinder with a turbo?

or a 400lb NA v8?

These are competition cars, reliability is a big reason people are going with v8's. Theres no wieghtloss, and the powerband is better.

Also althought FD is getting expensive, if you wanna go have a good time and drive against some decent talent, XDC looks to be where its at. When I get the Camaro done I'll be saving up 2k at a time and make events when I can, FD has gotten expensive, but it is a top tier professional series.

quazar311 wrote:no to different classes. bc no one cares about the lower classes anyways.. it's about the LMPs in ALMS.
so your saying people only watch alms to watch maybe 5-6 cars go around the track, and not the intense battles in GT between 13-14 cars? (excluding sebring and petit lemans of course)

what if they had something similar to what the off road stadium trucks do. They have Pro 4x4 and Pro 2wd classes. Maybe they should have like a Pro V8/V10 class and a Pro 4cyl/6cyl class?

maybe they could do like ken block and just run over random things during the events and film them in slow motion. lol

As for Taka qualifying for all the events (minus the one), it's because he is the BEST! :headbang:

i think 1on1 leads to drag racing and/or brake checking nonsense. so, make all competitive drifting into team tandem.

the winning team gets their choice of where they want to be in the 32 car drift train at the end of the event.

problem solved?

the reason they have so many classes in SCCA is so everyone can get a trophy. otherwise no one would race SCCA.

well i understand what your saying about power and class being irrelevant. it DOES just come down to skill in the end. That being said its set up just fine. I dnt know tho if its the leaders constantly setting the bar a little higher each time and wanting more and more power,.. or if its their sponsors say so.

some of you would know, knowing dennis and other drivers in FD. Is the build of the car pretty biased, strong-arming drivers into 'learning' to deal with the set up,.... or you think drivers are given a budget by sponsors to build something they would want so to speak?

(srry for the jumble of words,.. not sure how to get out what i was trying to ask!...lol)

depends on the sponsors. Dennis is still essentially a privateer, and the car is his own. i don't know the details of his sponsorship but i don't think he's getting paid by Kenda to run the series. others with full ride sponsorships are obviously expected to run certain products their sponsors provide for their cars that are mostly provided by sponsors, and not other things that may step on the toes of another sponsor. beyond that i'm sure their respective teams/sponsors listen to their input and do what they can to make the car better, but those guys don't tend to be in charge of the car build.
