I just got a pair of Falken Ziex put on the front of my car. The tread on the old tires was almost gone, and I really needed some new ones. I still need ones for the rear, but they can wait a bit longer. I haven't really driven hard on them yet, but so far they feel like a big improvement. Of course that doesn't really say much, because my other set was like generic soft crappy tires. So I'll give you an opinion in a few days

Yes i always use to buy the ziex's back in they day when they FOERST came out, i hade a friend who worked at Sears and i could get them cheap and they were not bad tiers. Although in a FWD car you could eat up a set at an Autox. or just the front two rather. Now i use hoosiers for Autox and what ever i can find laing around for free for street tiers.

I guess I phrased this whole thing wrong... I know Falken has been around for a long time (since '83, I beleive).
I have had several conversations with several different people who all had agreed through the course of discussion that they (myself included) would never have considered purchasing Falken tyres two years ago. Granted... there are exceptions to this (most of which, seem to have posted in this thread, lol

).
I for one - never considered them a competitive tyre when placed against the likes of Yokohama, Toyo, Dunlop, and Bridgestone. I would have always chosen one of those tyres before a Falken tyre. I think it's interesting (and impressive), how Falken has turned around their image (in my eyes at the
very very least) and climbed their way up as a top-tier tyre manufacturer. At worst... their heavy participation and presence in drifting persuaded others to do exactly what I did: give them a try - which definitely has proven to be a boost in sales across the board.
I guess what I'm getting at with this thread is that Falken is not the same company it was two years ago... and I feel that drifting is contending catalyst to the equation.

True, Drifting has been a big part of their 'come up'...but they've invested a lot of time & money to build up Drifting as a sport, along with their 'Brand name'.
They've spent a ton developing tire technology and releasing sum great stuff.
**** Before I get called out on it: For those that dont know, im currently under full Sponsorship with FALKEN with one of my cars****
I'd also like people to know that I'd still promote the brand if i wasnt.
For the money, you cant beat em

I agree... that's why I'm impressed. I think it's great to see a company show such initiative with the sport. I don't think the sport would be where it's at right now without them.
