yeah, I have every episode of initial d plus the movies and specials. strange as it may seem, but I probably learned about 80% of what I know about drifting from watching that show. very technical cartoon. I thought the FOERST 2 episodes of teh 4'th stage were very cool. I called what was going to happen at the end as soon as takumi noticed that the miata was going into every corner using lift-off or dynamic drifting. made me feel good about myself (like I am actually learning something )

thats odd that you noticed that. cause i didnt pay attention. i just thought he turned hard into the corner to start the drift.

but on a more serious note, i dont think you should learn from the cartoon.

i think mission drifting is a good dvd to learn from.

is mission drifting really good? am too poor to buy dvd's anymore so I want to know if am buying good vids that is worth it. Any body has a link to download it =D hehehe

well i think its good on teaching you what to look for when youre doing certain things.

they tell you to learn how to do donuts with counter steer, then bigger donuts, figure 8's, learning rythm.

i notice that if i try to teach people who've never seen me drift, they dont take me seriously. so i think they'd take the advice of people who are on a dvd.

haha, thats sounds like me but the opposite, i like to see it right in action, then on videos, books, or pictures.

I see your point, but I also think that everything contributes to our learning process. Gathering information (consciously or subconsciously) from multiple sources can definitely contribute to the learning curve, imho.

Initial D really is a very technical cartoon 'though (mainly because Keitchi Tsuchiya was a technical advisor for it). when I say i learned 80 percent of what I know from there, I don't mean i sat down, watched it, and formed an opinion. I sat down, watched it, went and drove my cart (a lot) then formed an opinion. A lot of the stuff they have done on the cartoon is very accurate. I have also bought and parcticed the stuff from the drift bible. also a very good source for drifting info and techniques. I have to agree that there is no better teacher than your own car 'though. every car has it's own little quirks that have to be learned by driving. since my car is down, the best I can do now is watch tv and practice un my pickup truck (drifting a 3700 lb pickup truck is both difficult and scary.........so I do that sparingly).
