it's all about sponsor $$$, drifting is just a sideshow so you look one way while the money goes the other. don't have enough sponsorship? sorry, you have to pay us money in fines until we are satisfied.

damn near every car i've seen in FD violates the rulebook in one way or another.

The SA car is NOT an R34 with some S14 parts bolted on. THEY CUT THE STRUT TOWERS/WHEEL WELLS OFF THE CAR, WELDED IN ONES FROM A DIFFERENT CHASSIS. THEN they "just bolted on" some "OEM" parts. OEM in quotes because SA claims any part made by NISSAN is OEM, when in reality, it has to be OEM for the specific chassis.


Now, there are plenty of other cars that are just as illegal, or worse actually.
I mean, come on... it started with Rnd. 1, year 1, with the Competition Coupe. If the current uproar results in FD getting serious and straight up about the rules and enforcement next season, I'm all for it.

But having driven in the series for 3 years, I know that's asking for alot.
