I am going to try to make the next run. Right now my tires and brakes are in poor condition. Should have new 300zx brakes in a couple weeks.

Yeah, Chris got tagged by the boxster I believe....and my little spin was not really a big deal...

I came into a left hand turn a bit too hot around 60 or 70mph [we were going that fast to keep up with the porsche] and knew that I was going to lose it. My car oversteered like crazy [thanks drift set up!] and my tail came out and I turned 180 degrees into the other lane. I wasn't afraid or scared....I just thought to myself, "This is just like drifting so countersteer out and relax." I slid through the curve, tried to avoid damange, and and hoped for the best. I ended facing the other direction in the opposite lane. I caught my passenger side tires in the dirt on the shoulder. I paused for a moment and then turned back around in the other direction and out of the dirt thanks to Chris and Adam. Without sliding experience, I think that I probably would have freaked out and locked up. Thank you drifting!:P

No hit trees. No falling off the mountain. No damage. Two men on motorcycles rode up our way and asked "if the asshole in the porsche ran me off the road." I was very lucky no one was coming in the other direction when it happened, otherwise I might have been toast. The rest of the day I took it easy. I slipped and miscalculated, and I'm lucky no one [or my car] got hurt. I always say that I know my limits, but in trying to keep up, I definitely overstepped them. A lesson learned for sure. I should have used my head a bit more, and it was definitely a good scare tactic for me.

I still think that it was an AWESOME day spent with a few great people and great drivers! I definitely want to do it again when it's cooler out.

you will never know your limits unless you push them, not saying you should push that hard on the street, but you probably learned alot in that one spin. I will tell you what you had a great braking drift going on, if you had expected it step out you would have been faster on the counter steer and performed awsome drift out of that corner. I would love to hit that road at night with some spotters, but going up it instead.

Porter said you got that heavy front bar. FOERST thing I thought of was you spinning it. That is a dangerous setup for a novice driver (no offense). I'm glad you didn't get hit or injured up there, it's a blast to drive but so easy to lose it with an unstable suspension.

I just saw this thread today (and forum for that matter) and would have loved to go up there with you guys. Suches Pass oWnZ me (take the FOERST left after Vogel State Park) .

None taken. It's my FOERST subi and awd vehicle, so I'm definitely learning the ins and outs of controlling it. I don't really find the set up to be that dangerous because I've had a lot of time to play with it-- the problem in this instance was the speed and not trusting my instinct. I really love everything about the set up right now. It's really been perfect for everything I've wanted to do with it.

Andrew gave me his front Whiteline bar and it's been in the garage for two months now.

Just rockin the CUSCO rear bar and OEM front.

It's totally flat in the corners.

I drove Andrew's STi at an Auto-x and it was nuts! but fun drifting through a sweeper. Felt great.

I'm not sure who Andrew is, but that's awesome he gave you the bar. What size is it? I definitely think the bars are probably the best thing I put on my car so far [in combination with the coilovers]. The steering response [and sliding response that I so much] is great.

What size is the cusco rear bar? I've got cusco bracing in the front and rear. They make great stuff.

Andrew drives a black STi with black wheels and has spiky hair and usually a trucker hat.

I also have the Cusco front and rear strut bars and front cross brace.

The rear bar is adjustable and I have it at full stiff. 22mm or 24mm, I forget.

The whiteline front bar is an older one and I'm not sure what it is either. He upgraded to a stiffer one. I think the one he gave me was the normal one and his was a special order one as he has some crazy suspension setups for auto-x.

Oh my GOD! Someone hit me? BASTARDS! LOL J/K Mark got pretty close but he never actually touched me. I was right behind nobody when she lost it but she did a perfect job of not freaking out. Kept it steadily coming around with her coutersteering efforts which allowed me to brake and drive right around her. Instead of into her. Props nobody! My 8 thanks you. The end of the trip I disappeared. Why you ask. I was saving your asses by running interference(sp?). The GSP that had the Busa pulled over was eyeing me like crazy and I knew I hadn't seen the last of him. Sure enough he appeared right around the top of the mountain, where I began to torment him. I would go stupid slow in the corners and accelerate up to @ the speed limit at exit so he couldn't pass me. You are all welcome. I figured if he got around me you guys were toast. Glad it worked. Anyway, we had a blast and I think this should become a monthly event. When's the next one?

Ah, I stand corrected! I thought Mark said that he tagged you when we came to our FOERST stop! Good thing for the 8 that he didn't:) Now I finally know boxster guy's name! haha I am so bad with names. And THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for keeping GSP at bay. I don't neeeeed any tickets. I thought the check engine light had gotten the best of you... *phew*
