On Civics, yes. Or Integras. Pretty much any piece of shit that doesn't deserve them. RX-7s are OK though.

My understanding of venting the hood was to allow the heat to escape faster from the engine bay. Heat rises, therefore allowing it resided out the top of the bay is optimal. It's not really an aerodynamics thing as much as a cooling affect for the motor.

I'm willing to bet that if you were to put a temp gauge in the engine bay before and after this you'd see a big difference in bay temp.

This is just my opinion. Everyone has one, like assholes. Everyone has one and they all usually stink... :)

It is a cooling thing. I was just explaining how the aerodynamics is what makes it cool more efficiently.

yeah thats basically what he's saying. The aerodynamics part is what improves the flow of that stagnant hot air at the top of the bay out the back of the hood.

the only benifit is if your standing still. and it allows the hot air to escape. aerodynamically i think your still a bit off. if you wanna be cool pop speed holes in the middle of your hood...

This guy explained the idea way better than I could.

"Notice that the location of these louvers are as aft as possible on the hood but prior to the high pressure area near the wipers. This places them in a low pressure area, allowing the hot air in the engine compartment to vacate"

Thats what I was talking about.

actually.. a lot of modern cars are designed with underhood air movement in mind.. so this can actually disrupt the smooth movement of air through the engine bay.. ever wonder why the bottom of firewalls are sloped back?

anyways.. it's a great way to get a hood in a 240atl driver's face when they rear end someone because they are texting pr0n to their other buddies.

on s13s.. there are hooks that prevent the movement of the hood in an accident.

not safe. wouldn't do it. if you're going to race a car.. why make it more unsafe?
