Nikkor DX 18-70mm & 18-135mm. I've been printed with shots off of the 135. People are too quick to blame the gear.

next event i go to i'm bringing a pinhole camera. you guys can have fun changing lenses, looking through viewfinders, and all that other bullshit.

it drives me crazy when i'm selling a camera and people ask me "which one should i get so that i take good pictures?" "this has more megapixels, so my pictures will be better, right?". so many times i've wanted to just tell people that i've taken better pictures than them using a cardboard box with a hole in it. i can sell you a nikon d3 with a 70-200 2.8 VR, but that doesn't mean your pictures won't suck.

i like cheap simple cameras, but fuck lomography. the idea behind it is good, just taking pictures for the fuck of taking pictures, and i'm all about that. it wasn't so bad a few years ago, but now its just retarded. i mean, $70 for a holga starter kit? you have got to be fucking joking. my holga cost $15, and that is still overpriced. i'm not saying those cameras can't take rad pictures, but they aren't rare, or well built, and honestly shouldn't cost more $10. on the upside i sold my holga to cute hipster girl that came in to my store for $20.

i got one of these on ebay a little over a year ago for like $50

and i love it. it needs stupid mercury batteries that are hard to find and die really fast so most of the time my light meter doesn't work. shit is awesome.

i think lomography is just really good at marketing. in any case, the concept is good. their store is wack. but i did win some online contest thingie and they gave me $30, so they can't be that bad.

oh and i gots a lomohome: http://www.lomohomes.com/PANDAmonium , but i kinda stopped going after i boycotted social networking sites.

New photographers should be put out on the track as soon as possible to gain this experience and a grassroots event such as this is a great way to do it

The Holga wasn't always marketed by Lomo was it? I don't even remember Lomo being around when I was in school.
