It was def a sad day when Nascar quit going there. They recently reopened the speedway though.

after Anthonys post I google the track and read up on it. pretty interesting. I'd love to go rent that track out if all the paint is still faded and awesome..

that's a pretty current pic. Bruton Smith/SMI just bought it for the two race dates it had and pretty much left it to die, so they hardly did any upkeep on the track facilities until late late last year. I've heard of them trying to get an ARCA date if they can get it fixed up enough. I've also heard of some Cup testing starting to happen too in preparation for the fall Martinsville race. What really sucker-punched the old-school crowd was when they left Rockingham back in '04 for California. Then switched the Darlington fall race to Cali........bad bad times for the old crowd indeed.

moving the 2nd darlington race to cali has got to be one of the dumbest things nascar has done.

there are rumors that atlanta is losing it's spring race so they can go to kentucky.

Its not missing all that much. Add some clip-ons, cables, pods, seat, lights, coils and some wiring and youre all set.
