formulad.com says he has 540 and that dai has 481. so if dai gets 60 points and vgj gets 0 he's out. it looks like you get 100 points if you win the event. so for vgj to bring it home he has to get at least 42 points. which means i think he has to at least make it to top 16. hoping he brings it home. vgj is probably the best ambassador drifting has.

yeah, if we stand to make drifting nascar. or at least stand to get more events because people actually wanna watch the shit and can support with spectator fees. he's the best way to go.

although i'm not sure if winning or not affects his marketability, since those (i think) we want to market to don't care now, or are even aware of it going on.

the dude sells the idea of drifting like fucking hotcakes to rednecks, but i still don't see spectators at events. well i guess events have to be advertised to the general public more to get them. they're not going to go out and look for drift events.

once again, i don't know what i'm trying to say here.

edit:

now that i think of it, i don't know how much sense it makes to get spectators to a lot of grassroots events. i've seen some events where i'd be bored out of my mind with spin outs and shit. there just need to be more demos i guess?

furthermore, now i really don't know what i'm trying to say.

I agree I hope JR goes all the way. I know a lot of people support Dai as the under dog drifter but I really like JR and agree with Patrick he's a huge proponent of US drifting. His partnership with Ford is giving him a lot of exposure and thats whats going to get more drifting demos at large US racing events.

dear koopa,
i think i know what you're trying to say. there is no reason you should have spectators at practice events. i think it's smart for a couple big events a year to try to help the sport grow just from an exposure stand point. i think the smart way to grow the sport is for mature people to show the rest of the world that drifting is dumb, but the fun kind of dumb. vgj is a really smart/mature/real dude that gets a positive reaction everywhere he goes including old man mustang meets.

I'd be happy either way if Dai or Jr take the win for reasons everyone have already said.
