Driving on the wrong side of the road...
Hey, is this shit difficult?
I'm going to the Caribbean and considering renting a car instead of cabbing it. Thing is, they drive on the left where I'm going, BUT most of the cars are LHD because they're made here. I have the option of renting from a place that only rents RHD.
DM, PLEASE ADVISE.
ps. miss you guys.

I'd say get RHD coz it'll feel more natural to be on the left side of the road in that configuration. If you're in a LHD, you might fall into habits.
Re: Driving on the wrong side of the road...
Don't worry, whatever you choose , you'll only crash once.
But seriously, I'd take LHD to help avoid that.

Im with Alex. I drove in south africa almost the whole time and for me the side of the road was WAY harder to grasp than the side of the car I was on. Driving RHD is fine, takes maybe 15 minutes to get used to it, but forgetting where the shifter sits is a lot better than forgetting to look right instead of left when making a left turn. Driving on the right side of the car made it easier for me to remember I am all backwards, and I think LHD would have messed that up.Treefish wrote:I'd say get RHD coz it'll feel more natural to be on the left side of the road in that configuration. hardest part of driving right hand drive is shifting. and that honestly takes minutes to get used to unless you drive like a dickhead slamming gears all the time.

i also agree with the RHD rental for wrong side of the road driving....also the novelty of it sounds more fun than good ole LHD

Charlie..
The Carribean is such a fuck storm of roads and cars that you might have a good chance of renting a LHD car from that place anyways and driving it on the left side of the road like a RHD car. I rented from Enterprise and it said RHD only and the shit was LHD.
When we went to Nassau.. I rented a car instead of cabbing it bc it was way cheaper than going on excursions and stuff from the cruise ship. We got to go everywhere and hardly pay anything. Best of all.. we got away from all the tourist traps like Senor Frogs and junk.. ended up on the European side of the island which was way more chill and relaxed.
Anyways.. soooooo back on topic. Our car was a LHD Suzukui Swift from Germany and drove on the left side of the road like in the UK.
Easiest thing to do is just follow the cars on the road and you are good.

Thanks for all the input, guys. I don't think it's going to be so bad after all. There isn't a stoplight in the whole country. I'm sure once I get through my second or third roundabout I'll have it licked. If it's too awkward we'll just get some MTBs. I think the whole island is only like 8 miles across or something.
