ok, since the rims i want real bad (the MB competitions) seem to be on backorder forever, i'm tossing around a few other ideas for what to get. i might still hold out for those since they look good and are ridiculously cheap, but i was just curious if anyone knew of a cheap motegi dealer as these are somewhat tempting (even though they are called the "touge")

i looked around a few sites (as it figures, none of the places where i know people carry these so i'd be stuck paying full price) and the 17x9's seem to run in the $200 range, but if anyone can get a better deal let me know.

oh, and jeremy, if you do hear anything new about the MB's gimme a shout (one of my friends called and heard something about late june though so i'm kinda worried that they'll still be a while :( ).

I know Pep Boys carries Motegi. I know that doesn't help.

On another note, if your looking for good sizes for a good price. Those newer URAS wheels look pretty nice and I think at most for 17x9's they are about 150, might be a next best alternative for the price. Just an idea.

yea, those URAS's are pretty nice too however the fact that they're from japan and kinda hard to get over here sorta puts me off (right now only a few distributors are getting them and there is a bit of a wait). that would suck if i damaged 1 rim and needed a quick replacement :).

Good point on that :D Those Motegi's look awesome. A set of those would be nice. Since your looking for a bit more of a budget wheel you can buy a few more of, maybe not. If I find any nice looking wheels in a 17x9 for a good price I'll be sure to post it here 8)

I vote no on the Motegis. I saw them when they FOERST came out and at FOERST they intrigued me as well because they actually come in decent offsets and have a polished lip... but after some deliberation I decided that I didn't like them.

They are decent looking wheels though, to each his own. :D BTW try to find out the weights.

yea, i will admit that the weights suck (i saw them listed a while back). the 17's aren't too horrible (23 lbs a piece) but the 18s are a bit over the top (26/29 lbs depending on the width). i'd want 17's for ease of getting tires though.

the main thing i like about them is just the way the black/polished ones look in person (saw them on dai's car up in NJ and they were really nice). almost remind me of my favorite wheel of all time that i know i'll never be able to afford (work meister S1's/SSR SP1's). i'm still super confused about what to get though, these were just another of my many thoughts.

Dude, these don't look like the Works, stop lying to yourself! Holy crap these are heavy!

DONT DO IT!!!1oneone

BTW the SSR's aren't that expensive... cheaper than the works. Wheels IMO is definitely something to not skimp out on, especially when it comes to offset and weight. Plus they can completely change the look of your car. When I see even a nice car with shitty wheels with a shitty offset, it just ruins it for me.

personally the only wheel i would buy from motegi is the track lite. Unfortunately the only option for a 17inch rim is +42 offset in a 17x7 which sucks i know. And im not sure if they have them in your bolt pattern but a 17 is only 14lbs :) or 15lbs cant remember. I dont have these issues with domestics haha.

unfortunately a 7" wide rim would look hideous on a 14 :(.
