since the other thread is kinda getting off topic, how about you list if your car shoots fire and if so, whats done to it. i'll start.

'91 RX7 TII

- 3" turbo back exhaust
- cone filter
- Greddy Type-S BOV vented to atomosphere
- lots of others but those are the main ones for fire balls.

the stock ECU on any 7 is set up for recirculated BOV's. so when you vent it, the ECU thinks its getting lots more air and dumps TONS of fuel in. obvious not all the fuel gets burned up and then ignites in the exhaust due to the 1600* exhaust temps. and BLAM! fire balls.

the rear bumper over my exhaust on my car is burned black from all the flames the car shoots. no paint is left there.

mine hasn't so far, but then again it was on low boost with a cat still in place for that only week i was driving it.

you definately can't have ANY restrictions in your exhaust. IE: no CATs. it doesn't matter how much boost your pushing, its just the fact of having unburned fuel make it to the exhaust pipe. when my 7 was N/A it would blow fire.

Mine does: '03 EVO with 3in HKS Hi-Power all the way back. 3 in test pipe and downpipe included. My HKS RS leans out mixture in mid range so i only get flames on the top end unless i run VTA. Turbo cars rule

i think turbo DSM's and RX7's are pretty close in the reliability category.

i wish my 240 would spit fire balls when i shift.

Roy's STi tends to shoot flames when we increase the boost after the motor has been running low boost long enough for the computer to readjust to those settings. As for Kouki7's RX-7, you are lucky i suppose in the fact that you will probably shoot the most flames of all of us simply becuase of the design of your engine. Since there is a little overlap between exhaust and intake, unburnt fuel tends to make it through the exhaust port. It is a little harder in Piston engines, however I have noticed that the EVO 8 seems to do it quite often without cats and a few mods.

true, rotaries love to shoot fire when the exhaust is free'd up 100% ie: turbo back 3" exhaust!

it'll shoot fire on demand and when it does it sounds like a shot gun going off. both Cody and Mike can attest to this cuz i took em for a ride in it.

get an SAFC and richen the hell outta your car. thats the easiest way for piston engines to blow fire.
