As to what's wrong with it?
Somewhere between the input shaft and the half-axels, the thing is boogered up, resulting in about half a turn of play from the input shaft and the wheels. which gives a huge KLUNK whenever I engague or disengague a gear.

I took the diff over to my friend who works at Kathrine's, and he looked it over.
"Toyota sure knows overkill well"
(on the seriously fuckin' sturdy differential on a 120 hp 4 cylender)

he looked at it and said that he thinks it's all okey, which is good, and it's probably a transmission mount or rear suspension component. He's gonna be heading over to my place around 6 to look at it.

Awesome! So it might not be too bad of a fix then....

or at least hopefully:) You think you'll still try and get the KAAZ one eventually?

The stock diff is good up to about 200hp and similar torque numbers, assuming you aren't shift-locking that bad block up every day. With that said, there's really no reason.

Oh, also. I asked stolichnaya for sponsership money or liquor.
