When looking at a car with a salvage title, what should i be concerned with?

Im looking at a car that has been hit bad in the front, and driven every day for the last 7 years with a rebuilt title.

As long as it drives straight, rides nice, it should be ok right?

if it's a rebuilt title, then it was rebuilt by a certified rebuilder and then inspected by the state and approved for road going duty again. so it's technically "like new", but it's an easy way to lower the price

salvage means, someone wrecked the car, isurance totaled the car.

getting a clean title is a long and rough road here in GA, I know someone that went through it, took over 6 months to get a title to register teh car.

It has an abalambala title, could I not get a GA title if I brought it here?

I dont care if i can get the title cleaned or not, aslong as i can get a tag and drive it.

You can no longer get a salvage title changed to a clean title anymore as far as I know.

As far as i know you cant either. Also i tend to pass over cars that have been crashed, although thats not to say there are not good cars with salvage titles but know mater how good of a frame man you are it is verrrrrrrrrrrrry hard to get one back straight. For every day use you may never notice but when you start to worry about tring to make you suspension work you most likely will see things wrong with the geomatry, but most of my experiance with cars like that are road race cars were we would spend days dialing in one, and the ones with the salvage title were the worst although something may have only been a 32nd or less off but when the other guys was dead on he has the advantage and of course i am talking about hard core suspension tuning "changing location of parts ext ext" so i may not be ofering any help .

I should be ok i guess. As long as i dont try to put another motor in it and find that the engine dosent fit.

It will be my daily driver, bash up dori practice car.

Also if you know a good body shop you could have them take a look at it for you, were in abalambala is it and what type of car is it? One more thing if its a flood car i would avaid it like the zombie atack, the can seem fine and leed to mad crazy electrical problams down the road.

yes you can... you just can't do it without having the work performed by a state licensed rebuilder, and then they have to have the car inspected by the state. it's a bitch of a process, but it can be done.

"totaled" is a very subjective term, my 240 was totaled and it was nothing but bodywork to fix. it's just the car's value vs. what the insurance company says it'll take to fix .

Actually, that law changed last year. This is what I was told by a licensed rebuilder. He said you can no longer, even if fixed by a licensed rebuilder, get a clear title. Now what is mostly going on now, is they are not changing the title to salvaged and they are selling with clean titles and people are rebuilding. Some are however being set as salvaged and they have to stay that way. My dad was looking into getting his rebuilders license, and still kind of is. Once the money's there it'll probably happen.

i have no p1x0r2. lolz. Its nothing special. It needs a paint job, a 5 lug conversion, and febreeze to get the pizza delivery smell out.

doh, i misread what you said. you can still get a legal title, but it states REBUILT on the title when you go the way i said .

yep but it's all good. If it's a personal car you probably don't care all that much that it has a rebuilt title.
