What a weekend..

Well, I'm finally back to ATL and back to work. Last weekend was crazy, crazy, crazy... Here's a quick recap.

Wednesday: Starting to feel dick, had to deliver the DG Trials car to a photoshoot and pickup my car form paint. I drop the car off and head to the shop, car JUST FINISHED PAINT! So, she'll have to wait till Thursday to put on the trailer. I go home, and get some sleep.

Thursday: I wake up feeling like Death with AIDS. Ray made it to town overnight and picks me up some cold pills. NIGHTIME cold pills. Add 4 hours more of sleep. We go to the shop, they are just starting to fit the exhuast We hang at R-Speed for a few the go load up the Miata and head back to the apartment. We load the BMW but we don't have any tie down. Add 2 hours for Mrs. Sapp to bring tie downs. We don't get on the road till 8:00PM Thursday night. I sleep in the truck the whole way to Houston.

Friday: Feeling a little better, we roll into Houston at 8:30AM just in time for the drivers meeting. We picked up Sapp at the Hotel, which didn't have my reservation, and went to the practice day. It was a good course, decent weather, and after a few runs I felt comfortable and took a good nap. Went out later for some more runs, then called it a day. Double dose on the cold medicine and went to sleep.

Saturday: Rain, cold, wind, rain, but I feel ALOT better. The weather was TERRIBLE, We swear we saw snow for a minute. You'd think the rain would help me with no power but, there were dry spots, and where the sand was, there was mud. Qualifying went so-so, I placed 12th overall, but no FD license We'll see what I can do. Anyway, we decide to load-up and just drive straight to LA overnight. We head back to the hotel and grab all our stuff, walk to the truck and................................ Bobo pressed the door lock and locked the keys in the truck. Add 1.5 hours for smart dogs that do dumb things. We don't get to LA until 3:00 AM

Sunday: This was the day that made the whole trip. We get to the track around 10:00 and setup. No one is really paying attention to us. It was a NOPI like car show, so everyone was all into their stereos and stuff. We hit the track for practice, and people start swarming. Me and Andy roll back into the pits, and all the people are shoving cameras in our faces, etc. etc. We practice more, then qualify. Me and Andy make top 8 and tandem starts. I eliminate the 1st guy I go against, Andy does the same. Now, I have to go against another Miata, and loose He was too slow for my fast, inertia drifts. Andy also looses, so it pits us against each other for 3rd. We go at it, and it was prolly one of our best set of tandems ever, ending with some huge, smokey burnouts into Manjis. The crowd was screaming, more than for anyone else, I take 3rd, Andy 4th. We pack up and in usual dM Style, we're the last to leave.

Monday: We don't get to ATL till 8:00AM. We leave everything and get some sleep. We wake up at 4:00PM to return the truck and trailer, truck won't start. Call the owner, and we need to add oil to some pressure sensor resevoir thingy, I don't know. Anyway, we don't get back to my apartment, complete until 10:00PM

So, I think I'm done with the travelling for awhile. Being dick, in the rain, cold, in a small truck for 4 days, takes alot out of you. Was it worth it? Maybe, we'll see.

Damn, that's pretty nutz... sounds like one of my stories. :o I was at VIRus, which out-rocked almost every previous drift event (and also involved breaking down/delayed return). I think the rule is like 15 % of all travelling drift events have some crazy suckage like button pushing dogs and crap.

I did several runs in Harrison's Cressida, and took lookout Mike's Hachi for a spin.
