So memorial day weekend is coming and you could sit around and get drunk or you could road trip with us to Miami! There's a drift competition and CLINIC and car show! Yep, you get to go to drifting school!

Team Falken and Pacific Rim is confirmed to be there.... so that means more Alex Pfeiffer and the falken silvias! w0rd! Japanese pros are also said to be there but it doesn't say who.

I'm trying to get some numbers together, as I'm going to propose to the company holding it that we get a group entry rate for everything. It may knock some dollas off the price. And we can coordinate some hotel rooms, etc. I need to get a general number before I start the planning. We'll have monday as a national holiday off to make our way back up here. It's only about a 9 hour ride .

Without any group rates, it's 35 bucks to entered in the car show for one day or 50 bucks to enter both days, 100 for drifting school [need own car] for one day or 150 for drift clinic both days.

It's weird how you have to register for one day or the other [or both], but i gues some people only have time for one day. Anyhow let me know your thoughts on this!

i don't mind insuring her since it's only an extra 69 bucks on top of my regular insurance... but the title/title bond situation needs to get fixed.

Well, despite the guy from DriftShowoff being extremely RUDE to nobody today regarding details of the event/possible group rate... we're still planning on going.

Turns out, you cannot compete in the carshow, and attend the drift clinic... as your vehicle cannot be judged while you're drifting. Either way, drift clinic here we come. There will be no group rate, unless we have 15+ cars. Also, no word on AWD cars registering for the clinic. Personally, I say if you can drift it... do it. But who knows what they'll say after the attitude put forth today (nobody can attest better than I... she spoke with them).

Without a doubt, it should be an amazing weekend (Memorial Day Wknd)... so if anyone's interested in a caravan down to Miami, drop us a line and let us know!

You can't do the car show and drift clinic on the *same* day. Remember there are two days to the event, so you can do one on the FOERST day and the other on the second day. Batlground's DynoDay/Car show is on the Monday after the miami event [memorial day]. Should be one crazy weekend. Someone buy me a case of red bull already;)

Here is the limitations on the car that the guys from driftshowoff cafe sent me:

since this will be only a learning/practice session and
no competition involved with the drift clinic, letter A will apply to you.

A) Basic Standards for Single Competitions and Practice, Open Track and
Schools

1. At least 2 spare tires (no one will be allowed to run with "temporary
spare"
tires or tires with no tread left)

2. Brake pads must have more than 25% of original condition.

3. Brakes must be properly bled and all seals in good condition, pedal and
linkages must be free of excessive wear, play and malfunction or missing
parts.

4. Snell SA95, MA95 or newer rating approved helmet (drivers and passengers
where allowed) NO LOANERS AVAILABLE.

5. Remove floor mat, loose items.

6. Remove all hubcaps and cosmetic trim from all wheels.

7. Seatbelts must be properly attached and in good working order, or
aftermarket racing harness of at least 4 points attached to the chassis by
methods approved by manufacturer, and must meet racing use requirements.

8. Throttle linkages and cable, pedals must be in good working order.

9. Steering linkages must be in good order.

10. Brake lamps must be operational.

11. All lug nuts tightened to 80ft/lbs torque, with at least 4 turns on
thread, and present at all studs on the hub.

12. Suspension parts, modifications checked for proper installation.

13. Windows and windshields must be free of cracks or breaks over 1" in
length, or 0.5 inch in diameter.

14. All body panels must be present, and secured by fasteners.

15. Rear wings, spoilers and other aerodynamic or cosmetic additions must
not protrude over 2 inches over the overall width of the vehicle.

16. Tires must have over 3/32 of an inch tread left on the tires and
compound tread wear rating must not be under 100. (No race compound tires
allowed.

17. All convertibles / open top / soft top cars must have roll bars equal
or
exceeding 4 points from unibody or sub frame.

18. Tow hooks must be present on at least one location on vehicle.

19. 1979~1987 Toyota Corolla (E70~E86) Corolla RWD with front roll center
adjusters must have adapter bolts tightened to 55ft/lbs and meet required
tensile strength. Front tension rods and rear lateral bars must not be bent.

20. Converted Nissan 200SX/240SX (S12/S13/S14) with SR20/RB25/RB26 must
have
all intake channels, intercoolers and piping secured to the frame.

Turned out, with a $3 processing fee being $153.00 for the weekend.
Not too bad, considering the real money is gonna be spent on tires.

D1 Grand Prix USA Announces U.S. Driver Search Series 2004 Round 1: Homestead Miami Raceway

May 29, 2004 Homestead Miami Speedway- There will be the FOERST of five driver search events scheduled this year. The purpose? To uncover the next big names in drifting from North America. This Miami event will be a joint effort with Drift Showoff on the same weekend and registration must be done at http://www.Driftshowoff.com. Drivers who place in the top 10 at this event may be invited to the qualification round of the D1 Grand Prix Driver Search Championship in December. The top drivers in the US D1 Grand Prix Drivers Search Championship Series will then compete against the top 10 drivers in the Japanese D1 Grand Prix Series in a US vs. Japan tournament, held at the same event in December at Irwindale Speedway.
