So for the 3rd year in a row I failed emissions. Its a Stock KA24de and usually I just mess w/ timing and put on the stock airbox but I wanna solve the problem once and for all!
I failed HC-ppm and CO-% and was really close to fail on my NOx ppm! WTF!
You guys think I should change the O2 sensor and check the EGR and its hose? A tune up? Im lost in a sea of maybe's here.
HELP! My tag expires on my birthday sunday.

wait.. if you failed three years in a row.. how did you get a tag your two previous years? hehe.. what's the secret?
anyways.. a new o2 sensor will do wonders... also are you running a cat on the car?
have you done a tune up lately on the car?

tuen that biotch up, then slap some new spark plugs in her. what kinda fuel you running. ive had problems in the past getting my fc to pass but if i change the spark plugs and throw some new gas in there it usually can get it to pass. im just glad that they passed a new law in missouri where i dont have to do emissions anymore

is it still the old stock cat converter on it? i'd suggest replacing that if it is.

i agree on the cat issue.. i don't think that the cat is all that much money from autozone either.. erik bought one so that BB would pass and said it was cheap.

ok
heres the story....
I got the car 3 years ago yada yada yada blew the motor the next day haha! Replaced that motor w/ a 96 motor---- failed emissions-----> Got a new cat and bam passed...
Last year I failed FOERST try... I change the oil, got some high octane, spark plug wires, spark plugs, clean the throttle body and couple more things im forgeting and failed again!!! So I went super ghetto and retarded the timing and passed.
Fast forward this year filled her w/ some high octane, drove from dunwoody to the emission place in Lawrenceville and it failed and I just wanna fix the prob. Im guessing/hopeing its the egr or O2 sensor.
It does bog/hesitate a bit when its cold but other than that no problems while its running.
thanks for the replys guys.

mine always passed with the erg taken off. just make sure you have a good cat good fuel timming at 20 or a tad less and have the take the test in 1st and 2nd not 2nd and 3rd.

Yeah I keep getting told about the cat but I dont think it went bad over 3 years but then again its a car and weird shiz happens.
Im gonna try a tune up, o2 sensor and maybe block off the egr.

your cat is probably shot. i would only run it for the e test. and run a test pipe all the other time

yeah I changed oil (needed it), got new plugs (apparently I had one NGK and 3 denso's

), Replaced the stock airbox, I set the timing (it was way off), and I filled her up w/ premium and got some octane booster (worth a shot I guess haha). Car feels alot better now.
Tomorrow im getting the O2 sensor and im taking another shot at it and if I fail again I guess its time for a new CAT!!!
