e36 steering angle (link), Foerst not last get in here

Post by kalifornia087 »

So I was trying to figure out about getting more angle in the m3.
I remember Andy talking about the collars on teh tie rods.

Then i found the link andy posted about another guy fixing this problem while lurking on ZT.

Below is the link to the thread where the guy (sean) points out the factory steering angle stoppers... I see what he is talking about. But What has to be done? Are they threaded on? Or do they just need to be cut down all the way around so that the tie rod goes further into the steering rack??

Pictures 8 & 9 show the rod and such. Any help is appreciated, I'd like to not pull the rack until I know what needs to happen.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering about. Matt said he though he could do it but I don't know if there are any m3 racks on the shelf at SG for me to take over there, I'm gonna go by there in the morning and look. THough I suppose I could look at any e36 rack and see what needs to happen, then apply to my beast.

And yes, MOAAR ANGLES!! I'm gonna have to beat my inner fender in more if I do though, since I don't have spacers yet (one more thing on the list).

Clamps? You mean like, after the angle-blocking devil peice has been removed, just got to find something to tie down the boot?
