I think it's possible. After getting AWD loose in the rain, I think I could use the right weight transfer to drift on dry tarmac.

Well had the cops not showed up on Saturday night, I think it could have been better. After getting that FOERST dry one in, I think I may have figured out exactly how to get the weight shifting properly.

I need sway bars ASAP though. Screw subaru understeer!

we can always convert it to a RWD and with a extra Diff, we can swap in and out so u can be AWD or RWD in a few mins =D.

but in AWD its hard, really hard. EVO is more easier to drift. You'll have a tough time drifting in low speed drifts like connecting coners with coners. High Speed Drifts are much easier like going 65+, practice practice!

Actually I haven't found it very hard in the STi at all. If you adjust the DCCD to mostly rear wheel drive then you're good to go. Even in automatic DCCD she'll break sideways with a little help. The STI tech at the dealership here in ATL is probably the best demonstrator of it, though... He drifts his STi like it's a RWD car, so I know it's quite easy to do.

As far as the evo, I haven't ever tried to drift one! Our other team member seems to have problems getting it to break loose all the time, though...which makes me think the STi might be easier...

Its all about the suspension. I had a regular WRX with tein coilovers, a good alignment, and 9kg springs totally sideways and spitting smoke from all four tyres at 80mph.
This drift was initiated by just driving in hard and letting off the throttle at turn in and whoalla!!! the back end started coming around which was followed by gratuatous amount of throttle.
So if its set up right u can do it pretty easy.

Which Tein's did you have? Was it the flex system? I was looking at the Teins, but scott up at subaru of gwinnet told me they weren't so good on the subis, and to get the JIC majics. [I'm assuming he only said that because JIC is their partner in suspension tuning up there].

I wanted to do the tein's anyhow, so I'm curious as to how ya liked 'em. Did you rock the sway bars on it as well?

Tanabe Coilovers!! good god awesome company! JIC are awesome. K*Office coilovers are awesome too! Not quite sure what kind of coilovers are good for the STi's, but they should be, their from Jpn hehehe.

Oh! also, try going for a near open diff up front and a much tighter diff in the back. Sticky Tires in the front and ok tires in the back and a good STB and swaybars are really good and should up the drifting chance, goodluck!

Whoa! What's up Shane?
You said you had a regular WRX? What happened to it?
Pleeease don't tell me bad news!

The WRX is ok. Its just a race car now and not driven on the street.
Its got the electro-adjustable teins and white line sway-barz. We got the tiens really cheap of a wrecked car and havent had a probs with them so far.
