ok so i know a few of you replied to the last topic about my engine so here's an update...

last night i was at a shop and we decided to check all the coils, plugs, wires, and do a compression test.

just to let you know the RB is one of the hottest engines ever, so yeah it hurt. anyways, i have a friend of mine do most of the work so i didn't screw anything up and also got to watch and do a lil hands on training.

so heres a list of what needs to be fixed....

1 & 4 - coilpacks-----> #1 is missing the boot and is a little burned....#4 is just not firing all the time... no idea why just...not doing it.

compression test reading:
1 - 150
2 - 150
3 - 130
4 - 120
5 - 100
6 - 145

so as you can see i have 3 cylinders that are good and 3 that need some help... well we determined that it was b/c of 1 of 3 things being that the engine is still fairly new.

1 - water got into the engine somehow when it was sitting in the junkyard

2 - someone starved the engine of oil at least a couple times and has warped the cylinder walls or scorched them

3 - i need new rings and pistons.

so either way it will need to be taken apart to check. so i'll be doing that sometime in the next month. the compression doesn't have my too worried but now since everything (coils) have been checked the car is running funny. like it doesn't want to rev hard over like 4G's it kinda tapers off which sucks cuz i almost lost to a non-turbo accord! WTF! but don't worry i have coils from a maxima coming right now so the car will be back and good as new. also assuming everything goes right i'll be able to come back to atl to get some more work done, and maybe JUST maybe i can meet some of you.

wow that motor is done. That is a huge gap, was this a dry compression test. I would be curious as to what a wet test would do. Either why it sould be taken apart, because all you will end up w/ is a half ass setup in current condtion. Power inbalance is ghey.

yeah i agree that the car is a lil worn but not done, alot of cars have wierd compression and run fine and yeah it was a dry one... i'll be doing the wet test later this week or whenever my coils come in. if it's anything i bet it's the rings.. which isn't too bad, so when i do that i'll change the headgasket too. so it'll be ok, i'm trying not to freak myself out too much here. so it'll be ok. i hope.

You know it could be a blown head gaskit maby that would be an easy fix.
