question for you. i'm getting ready to do the gusset plates on my cage, measured and drew them out..made cardboard templates..etc..

i need to buy the steel for them, but what gauge thickness?? i'm thinking 1/16" thick should be plenty.. is there a better choice? what does YOUR car have??

i would match the thickness of my tubing. that is just me.

i'm using 1.75" .095" wall DOM.. but interesting thought.

IIRC, we used 1/8" gussets when doing parachute mounts, etc.

I'll check and see what our chassis guy recommends.

for gusstes you have to use frozen. try bluebird brand.

1/8" or 3/16" for gussets. cages are usually 1.75" .095 or .120 wall. keep the cage clear of possible places it may hit a human head, especially if you are going to street drive the car without a helmet (which isn't too bright)

cage has been done, i built it, welded it, and i dont drive on the street.

i ended up using 16ga. steel plates...oh well, it does the job fine. God willing i'll never need the strength.
