Clearing some stuff up

Okay, I'm probably going to be doing a talk about drifting in the future, but I've come across some things that need to be cleared up before I say anything.

FOERST, has anyone heard of Kunimitsu Takahashi? Wikipedia says he's the one who put the idea of drifting in Tsuchiya's head, but they didn't cite any source and I haven't found any interview where Tsuchiya references him.

Second, what brought about the whole "big-fendered, stretched-tire, too-low-to-be-useful" car style? I know we aped the style of Japanese street rods, but do we know why they started setting cars up like that? I mean, apart from looking cool.

Third, drifting hasn't brought about any sort of fashion, has it? I mean, yeah there are some team hoodies and t-shirts and all, but there hasn't been any sort of definition as to what a "drifter" would wear.

Fourth, does anyone have a picture of Sammy Tiger? Preferably a picture of him looking at the camera with noone else in the shot, but I'll take what I can get.

Don't think I've heard of Kunimitsu Takahashi.

I believe this man is responsible for hippari tires.

The most beneficial part of stretched tyres would be less (zero) sidewall flex... and keeping a more consistent contact patch. I don't think of it as much of a cool factor as I do a function factor. I don't have to lift on transitions with stretched tyres, but I do without it... because the sidewalls flex, and I have to wait for the car to react before getting back on the gas.

The biggest thing that stands out in my head for Japanese drift fashion would be one-piece mechanic suits at the track.
The only American drift fashion I can think of is pretty much streetwear fashion - to which it seems all the major streetwear brands have flocked to the pro circuit.

The racing shoes thing is hella true. I quit wearing mine unless I have to. They're uncomfortable, and don't offer any benefits over normal shoes, IMHO. I like driving it my Supras way better.

where can I order some SM's?

I stopped wearing my thin sole shoes too. they sucked after a long day of standing on asphalt and soaked water up instantly.
