Re: I'm really lucky to have this
So today I messed around in the shop. Last night for $250 I bought a silfront, a super beat up fiberglass hood (been lookign for 2+ years for one of these), a trash bumper, rough fenders, but pretty good condition lights.
started working on the hood so it can look like ls1 cars hood since its going on future ls1 car.
so i found a DIME, and a bunch of zipties fiberglassed in, this is gonna be a lot of work, and a lot of the fiberglass was laid in wet so i'm gonna have to dig a LOT of it out.
Also got some progress on new ls1 car, cut out the front fender tubs
and on the Brat, made ratiator mounts...out of s13 trunk latches. bawlin.

Re: I'm really lucky to have this
haha, that hood.
So I bought this hood with fenders, headlights, brackets for hella cheap, and will probably end up making money once i repair everything, keeping the hood though.
apparently the previous owner just layered on hardener, and used things like zipties, DIMES, and duct tape to repair this hood that he cracked because he doesn't know how to use hoodpins.
spent about 4 hours on it so far, using such wrong tools for this project as
-angle grinder
-chisel
-hammer
-hammer and chisel
-air hammer and chisel
-drill/wire wheel
to remove the worst fiberglass job i've ever seen in my life. stuff was still soft in there, and the ductape made one hell of an adhesive mess i just wired off.
the grinding part was for the huge cracks just cutting out the bad glassing job, it was really that thick, and the chisel was also because the hardener was so thick you could just chip it off. it was really bad. anyways with the goal to reach sub 2500lb territory fiberglass hood/trunk is a must, and i'm a cheapskate, so to work we shall go on this.
on the ground you'll see a bunch of chipped off spray painted red hardener, absolutely terrible.
that's right, duct tape.
why do it right when you can just put duct tape on it? this stuff with hardener is absolute hell to get off, thus the chisel.
after about 20 minutes chiseling
so i chiseled the whole front which was COVERED in about 1/8'' thick worth of hardener. definately making some progress, but still a TON of work to do on this thing.
where i started a couple days ago
looked kinda bad, but i had no clue what i was in for once i started sanding.
more pictures of hood fun here

i'll post more updates on stuff as it comes, also spent tonight just looking at original ls13 and picking it apart some, i think i'm gonna clean it up slowly and keep it as a long-term project.
gonna order all four tubs for new ls1 car this week or next.
