I've been riding my bike lately, let see:tshirt, vest, track sweater, members only jacket, riding jacket w/ another layer inside it to block the wind as well as sweatpants inside my pants. my gloves however still leave my hands somewhat numb and very cold after like 30-40mins of riding. :(

I rode home today wearing a pair of khakis, polo shirt, and my Joe Rocket textile jacket! Holy crap it was cold. And wet! I find a good pair of long handles and a hoodie keep me good to about 30 degrees. Hey Randy, try some glove liners. They are only about $8 at most bike shops.

for cold weather riding there are a few MUST HAVES...

1. balaclava (not the greek food, the cool ninja hood)
2. glove liners
3. heavy boot socks/motocross socks (or the nice heated battery powered deals)
4. some sort of wind resistant pants/jacket, GORE-TEX is the shiznit.

my balaclava has gone missing and i am ever and ever sadder for it. i use a bandana now, which works alright, but is not as warm. bonus points for it being the one my riding buddy gave me when i FOERST started riding.

anyone have advice for fogging? my glasses and visor are ALWAYS fogging when it gets too cold. i know breath guards exist but i've never seen one at any bike shops i've been to. anyone ever use that rainx anti fog stuff on their visor? i'm hesistant, because it could just make it where not only is it fogged but its streaked and impossible to see out of, which would mean me having to ride with the visor up and my face frozen/possibly wet if it starts to drizzle/rain.

The never fog stuff is okay and should work well for your glasses. The shield may work well with it. I haven't tried it. If you ride enough in the cold a heated suit may not be a bad idea. I'm too cheap for that stuff though. Just remember the more uncomfortable you are, the more hardcore you are! :)
