A bit of seriousness

Post by JJ Alfano »

A lot of you guys have highly artistic and creative fields of work. What made you decide "Hey, I'm gonna go for it" I've heard media and imaging is very competitive field, what made you think you could overcome everyone else, did you feel that you had a natural talent? Or did you just take a leap of faith and turn out to be good?

Basically, I'm 19, almost 20 and still trying to decide what I wanna do as a career. I'm going to school for Business, but the deeper I get into it, the less I want to choose that as my job of choice.

I decided to ask you guys because I want to hear from people who are older and into their career's but are still young enough to relate.

Throughout high-school I was planning to be an accountant. I took 2 years of accounting classes and no art classes. My senior year internship was a clerical job and as close as I could get to a sampling of what was to come.

My hatred and boredom with that job told me that the only way I was going to be happy was if I was in a creative field, so I went to art school.

Competition with other artists was never something I considered.

I enjoy the competitiveness of the field. It inspires me and pushes me to be better.

i used to like drawing and designing flyers and stuff for the band i was in during high school. started college with no major or idea what i was doing, but then thought design might be a cool idea. tried it out and took to it ok, that was pretty much about it.
