my question is, why are there 2 oil caps?

You see that a lot on N2 cup cars. It's probably got something to do with windage off of the cams, or so that you can confirm TDC on both cams without pulling the valve covers.

it is done for crank case vent. the left side cam cover has the pcv port in it.
