I just picked up a 306 V8 from ATL with an E303 cam and forged pistons. The motor has a spun bearing, but other than that, it's in good shape, 10,000 miles. I happen to also posses a 302 with bad rings, but a great crank.
So, $200 motor, $150 in seals and bearings, and I will have a new motor with a cam. To give you an idea, I had budgeted $750 to do this same buid up to my motor. Plus I'll have a spare short block.
Go me! $400 off the budget is good since I was $500 over last I checked
Well I talked to the guy I got the motor from and he says it was putting out 270whp on a setup that was slightly less that what I currently have. I'm running a better intake and heads, so I'm hoping for over 270whp. To give you an idea what that means, my car dyno'd 225 last time, on 93 octane. When you guys saw it, It was putting out about 200whp becuase I retarded the timing to run 87 octane. Also, I've cut about 300lbs off the car.....Then there's the FC front suspension, and Miata IRS rear....
70 more wheel horse power, 300 less lbs.... The faces on this forum can't describe...
