The Dragon this weekend was awesome.

Well I spent 5 days up at the Dragon last week. The roads up there are unreal. The dragon alone had 318 turns in an 11 mile radius. Talk about work lol! I spent sunday riding around on the back gravel roads with a few friends since I didn't want to take my car on gravel for obvious reasons. There is just something fun about jumping a WRX over a hill

The whole trip was a lot of fun. Way too many sport bikes up there over the weekend though. The skyline road is awesome too. Long sweeping s curves. It's a great time as long as you understand it's not a race track and respect it. OR you will bite it lol.

i missed you at northpoint last thursday! I'm so jealous you got to go to the dragon! I want to go. I'm thinking about going for my birthday and renting a cabin-- do you have any specifics about renting cabins up there [like how much and where do you look for them]. How did NASIOC organize runs on the dragon with so many people there? Did you go in shifts or...?

The place to look for cabins is [url]www.fontanavillage.com[url] We got a special room rate there. They have an INN you can stay at, or cabins you can stay in. There is no cell phone coverage up there. They have a general store and everything for supplies.

We only had one organized run. With about 60 cars lol. The rest was small groups of cars. Which was much better. Everyone carried radio's and worked on the same channel so you could tag along with anyone you wanted too.

The roads are crazy up there. You got to be incredibly careful how you run them. They are not like other roads around here. The turns start at one radius then turn sharper lol. It's nuts. But a lot of fun.

I heard 3 STi's wrecked up on the dragon, is that true dan?

Wow, people managed to keep an SVX running! Hmm...I wonder how an STI power and drivetrain would work in one?

Actually he plans on swapping out the SVX tranny for a 6 speed STi one. OR so I've heard from Zak [a tech that works with him] I think it would be bad ass!

I actually see a lot of SVX's still running!

Yes that is Jason Porter's SVX. And the wrx belongs to wayner, he was our hook up for free white water rafting.

About the wrecks. Only 1 sti, that was hit by a wrx that was coming around the corner over the double lines and lost control and t-boned the Sti. Both were totaled. 1 Svx was totaled too. No one was hurt. He lost control on a turn and plowed into the side of the mountain. There was one other minor wreck where a wrx lost control and tagged the side of the hill. Most of the wrecks up there requiring the life flight hellicopters were motocyclist. There were 150 sport bikes up there in suzuki bike club along with us. The sport bikers had a report 9 wrecks.

It is crazy up there. But that was just a freak weekend. If you drive with in your limits and the limit of the road. I.E. NEVER cross the double lines then your ok.

Yep, the Dragon was great. Hung out with a lot of people, some I had met before, others for the FOERST time. The guy I roomed with up there took both of the pictures above. That is Porter's SVX. We all were a little dusty after miles and miles of gravel roads. And that's just a bird there in the grill there, nobody, not a chicken

I did gravel on Thursday with a small group and with a bigger group on Sunday with Porter in his SVX leading the way. I lost my brush guard on sunday. It started coming off, so we used a rock as a ghetto jackstand and took it the rest of the way off. Also have some scratches on the passenger side from some encroaching bushes, but all that should buff right out, i hope

Was still worth it, punching the throttle goin into a turn, lifting off to have the rear end slide around, then into the throttle again to have the car straighten out (all without ABS engaged, of course)

I was also the WRX that clipped the mountain that Dan mentioned above. Got a scuffed and cracked front bumper and a cracked headlight, both of which can be replaced easily enough. Just gotta decide if I'm gonna try to repair it, replace it with a WRX bumper, or get an STI front. Not sure about a body kit, either. Still looking and deciding what to do.

So it was an interesting weekend, but very fun nonetheless.
