Hot Import Nights ATL (5.28.05)
Moderators: andysapp, charlie, CodyW, Rhoad Racing
Yeah, I dunno how it was. I had 40 minutes of sleep that night, and met up with everyone on Barrett Pkwy @ 7am, only to go through the fuel fiasco. I friend of mine that I met at DriftAtlanta asked me to enter and display in their booth... he took care of my registration - and then the damn fuel thang screwed it all up.

we haven't really decided on anything definate yet but the tentative plan (as of tonight) is to try and meet up around 4:00 somewhere. we have to be at the show before 8:00 so if traffic heading into town sucks and you can't do that, you can always just meet us at the place. if something changes or we figure out any more details, one of us will try to post up or let you know as soon as we can.
Does anyone have any good stereo equipment they can bring? I've got everything neccesary to run the video projections, but no sound output ta boot. All we would need is a receiver and two speakers.
We need to be able to crank some volume, since once the show kicks off, it becomes an audible sound war for what's loud, and what's makes your ears bleed, lol.
Holla.

RAWK!!! That would be rad man!!!
I am bringing some new video materials... nothing new on the composite tip - but I snagged a disc from Cody last night with pictures from the last year for a new slideshow. I wanted to snag some of the footage that Tyler shot at FD ATL, but there hasn't been enough time.
There will be some new stuff in the mix, though!

They'll let you in, and if they don't... we'll start swinging. It's money in their pockets if you enter... so I don't see them turning you away - especially since you're part of a drift team... and drifting is the "hawt" thing right now.
We're meeting at the Office Depot on 14th St. in midtown. Those of you travelling south on I85, you get off at the 10th, Techwood, 14th, & 17th St. exit. Veer to the left to avoid the ramp to 17th st, and stay on the access road until you come to 14th st. Hang a right onto 14th (in front of the Wolf Camera showroom), and then hang another immediate right into that shopping center. Go straight back to the giant skidpad (;)), and that's where we'll be.
As per the e-mail that I received from Vision today... we need to try and meet as close to 3pm as possible. I know everyone gets out of work at different times, so we'll have to sorta play it by ear... but the e-mail said if you don't arrive together... you won't park together. Who knows how that will actually work. Last year it worked out fine - so we'll see.
Keep an eye on this thread tomorrow for up-to-date info. Shxxxt has been crazy at work this week, and I haven't been able to answer many phone calls. I'll post status' up here as things develop.

yes indeed. this was by far the most un-orgainzed event EVER, and we've been to some shitty events. the only way i'll be back is if i'm rocking full anti-HIN graphics next year as this was the biggest waste of 2 days in my entire life. i want my $58 back, along with some kind of compensation for missing a day of work, wasting a shit ton of gas, sitting in hot lines for over 8 hours among 2 days, and having to put up with some of the biggest assholes in the country (all to not even get in the damn show). fuck those people.

it's an extremely long story but here's a (slighly) condensed rundown...
basically, we all arrive at 5 or so friday (we had to be there by 8:00) and were convienently "left off the list" for teams that were allowed to enter. this meant that we may have to park apart from each other and not have our display which sucked, but we were still gonna go through with it. we all sat in line and watched random cars bascially get hand-selected to go inside while the rest of us waited anxiously to get in. at 8:30 we were told they were done letting cars in for the day and they said they'd re-open at 2:00 saturday and let 50 more cars in.
to make sure we'd make the cut, our asses got up there at 8:34 this morning and were the 2nd group in line (7 cars were in front of us which should've given us plenty of breathing room, but we were wrong). after a few hours in this line, the asshole sherrifs (and i'm not saying that as one of those people that doesnt like cops, but these guys were honestly asses to us) made everyone move on to the street as we were all a fire hazard. this lead to a huge cluster of people scrambling to the front but we pulled some creative parking antics and kept our close spot.
this move did however clear an opening which a few morons took advantage of and got away with pulling their cars right to the ramp, even though we were threatened to be towed if we stayed there. the closer it got to 2:00, the worse it got and tons of people were trying to squish their way into the front. on top of that, there were rumors of the 50 cars being cut down to anywhere from 5-6. as you can guess, a few last minute people got in and our entire crew was denied. the FOERST come, FOERST serve thing was bullshit, and we were also being threatened with more tickets if we didn't get our cars off the street where everyone else was. this led to us all having to pay another $3 to park up front just to discuss what the hell was going on as there were cops at every corner.
we were told they'd refund our money but once again one of the wonderful HIN officials informed me that since i was in, that counted the same as getting my car in (we still got our little wristbands which admitted us). this was even more BS and after a quick debate, he said that if we didn't wanna be there we could get refund at the ticket desk but the ticket desk people said they couldn't do anything and to call the vision entertainment/HIN people on monday. so as of now, i'm out $60 from entering, a good bit from missing friday at work, who knows how much in gas, and i'm freaking pissed from spending over 8 hours in BS lines that did no good at all.
so yea, it sucked.
