july 9 mountain run

Post by sam »

leave tech around 1600, crawl through windward parkway, and hopefully beat most of the bad traffic. hit mountainous reigons between 1800 and 1900, have two hours of sunlight left?

yup, i'm with you on this one andy. i was there until 8:00 tonight (and mind you also got there at 8:00 this morning), and i'm pretty sure tomorrow will be just as long (they also want graphic support all weekend but i'll be damned if that happens). it gets freaking stressful as hell too, but the good thing is i'm already over 40 hours this week so tomorrow will be all time and a half pay :).

ok, enough complaining about my job, but have fun tomorrow!

Old local trick. You run up to dusk. Get across to woodie or wolfpen gap and hang out and watch the sunset. Wait about 30-45 minutes, then go again. in the dark.
The real drivers aren't afraid of the dark, and with the great rhythm that 180's got, you can almost drive it with your eyes shut, the way the road rolls out, you can just feel where the next turn is going to lead. There are two or three turns down 60n near the cliffs that are difficult to gague, but those, you can just feel are different. When they come in banked away, you just feel it out.

I have a feeling what happened to one of the 240's on the last run was in one of those turns. I think I'm may be at Commerce that early...get my money's worth and plenty of practice but who knows.

As Samir from Office space said, "SHITFUCKGODDAMN!"
I got two flat tires. and one tire disentegrated. Gordy tires on howell mill wants 270 bucks to replace two 205/45-16's with shitassed BFG's. no mountain run on the spare.
