So i went to change my diff fluid today and....

Yeah last night i changed my diff fluid.

A few hours later i left for jameys. Got there, then when we left to go to trippers house my diff started whining realllly nastily.

Went and put it back up on the lift today. Opened up the drain plug and realized what was whining...

yeah it just kind of came out with the fluid.

It's a tooth of my pinion gear.

The ring gear is still ok, and as far as i know this is the only one that sheared, i ran almost another quart of fluid through it with the drain plug open to make sure anything else that was in there came out.

Well, i have the full 1.8 rearend conversion sitting at jonathons house... Guess its time to convert!!

Just got to make it six days daily driving.... *Crosses fingers*

Yeah man. I Forgot to mention, it's a tooth off of my pinion gear.
I'll def. give you a shout if i need a hand, she should be ok though. No hard driving at all for the next week....

here this is what happens when a welded diff explodes,


can't find the labeled pic, but there are a total of 6 fractures in the spider gears, the diff is offically a locker, locked so it won't move.

this hole is big enough to stick your finger throuh.

drain plug with a ton of metal shavings.

LoL. I wihs i had some pics of when we drained mine right before the 1.8 swap.

It looked like i was running CHROME gear oil.

I'll get pics of the insides of it later
