gauging Intrest on motor swaps
ok well i just bought a 90 rx7 with a cluster fuck of a motor in it. if you know anything about rx7's you should see this one, its an s4/s5/S-wtf motor. well any who i am gauging intrest in swaping something different into the car besides another whirly gig motor. the 13b is great, on paper, but impractical once you build it. so far my idea's are either a ca18det, or an sr20det. i has someone suggest a 4age, but i want to upgrade in power and that one thing that rotards have nothing of, shit what is it, damn it used to use it all the time, oh yeah thats it, torque! i just want to get a good idea of what other people think about this before i go jumping balls deep into this thing. well leave your comments and keep this on on topic for once.

like it says gauging intrest, this is not set in stone, its just an idea. i just don't think that doing a jdm 13b swap is going to be reliable. considering the motors have most likely sat for a few months/years with out being taken care of, and not to mention after i buy the swap/ clip i will probally have to rebuild it to make sure it lasts for longer than 6 months.
you have heard to many bad rumors from uneducated people. There is no need to buy a whole front clip, your already a TII. The engines from japan are quite reliable as long as check compression FOERST, and if you bought one with bad compression the housings are most likely trashed so you couldnt rebuild it anyways. Or you could buy Mazda reman with a warranty. There are people running 450whp out them, so even if blows(usually due to a detonation) you get a new one free.
But question is why even go through all this if your engine runs?

Sr20 is a hell of a lot more of a swap than you probably think. I'd love to do it, but custom oil pan, motor mounts, tranny mounts, wiring etc etc.ChokingVictim wrote:ok well i just bought a 90 rx7 with a cluster fuck of a motor in it. if you know anything about rx7's you should see this one, its an s4/s5/S-wtf motor. well any who i am gauging intrest in swaping something different into the car besides another whirly gig motor. the 13b is great, on paper, but impractical once you build it. so far my idea's are either a ca18det, or an sr20det. i has someone suggest a 4age, but i want to upgrade in power and that one thing that rotards have nothing of, shit what is it, damn it used to use it all the time, oh yeah thats it, torque! i just want to get a good idea of what other people think about this before i go jumping balls deep into this thing. well leave your comments and keep this on on topic for once.
Put a 13bt in it, run a fuel cut, port the wastegate and run an exhaust. Have lots of fun. Repeat.
Only two other alternatives are worth it if you go with piston motors. 302 H.O out of a mustang (the 5.0), or the awesome LS1. Ls1 would be better, 5.o would be cheaper. Both would make good torque and power and be tough.
Oh and listen to Turbo FB he knows what hes talking about, especially the part about uneducated people not knowing what they're talking about.

ok well here in the break down of my s4/s5 cluster fuck. the rotors and housings are from an s5, the front cover is from an s4 turboII, the intake mani. is from an s4, and the throttle bodies is from an s5 thanks to me because it had an s4 TB w/ s5 tps on it.
now can any of you guys that want me to keep it Rotarded, gimme some places to look for motor swaps, and clips that are waranteed, every place i look will not warantee rotories. so give me some places, i have already checked atkins, pineapple racing, race beat, rx7store.net, etc. now i want to find places that get me a clip.

you wont find a warranty on a used rotary. And sounds like you have a s5 engine, but used the s4 front cover to use the mech. oil injection, perfectly fine setup, s5 intake would be nice to have installed. Only 2 things i wont from my engine one is have compression the other is to hold water. If they do that then beat the shit out of them till they dont its that simple
