I dunno. I know when I took my car into J3 Racing to get my doorbars fixed, they said my thickness was a little small for the weight of my car, even it was to SCCA Pro spec. They said they would have gone with the next step up.
But that doesn't help much, because I dunno any numbers.
i'm towing the car to MD to build the cage in my pop's metal fab shop and he thinks sched 40 should do the job, since it is larger diameter and thicker. the stuff weighs 1.6 lbs/ft.. time for more boost
I bought an Autopower... until we started fitting it. I shipped it back, lost out $300 for shipping/restocking, and got a full custom cage at Robinson.
After some great advice, I decided my life and safety was worth the money to get a cage that was done right.

I have the FD rulebook right here, DOM is the "preferred material" ERW is not permitted.
Believe it ior not, the stock curb weight on the GS is about 3660 i read.. mine is much less, so maybe this is overkill even worrying about it. I'm getting ready to lighten it further by pulling the hvac sysyem and heater core..etc Hell the stock seats weighed over 100lbs each..
it just says you have to petition FD for any car over 3500lbs without the driver.. i dont think i have anything to worry about, but who do i contact on that FD officers list to verify? Randy Hembry?
i probably should get to a scale and weigh the damn thing..
