I did some more work one afternoon this weekend. Not a ton of progress, I kept gettin phone calls.
Drilling welds on the LHD support so I can flip it and weld for RHD.

Got it welded up and mounted in the car.

Got the brake MC and clutch crap mounted with the RHD manual rack finally in place. I had to create ingenious ways of "making" that work on the LHD subframe.

Now I can use the rest of the cage I have. Bought a RHD one from jarco who failed to tell me it wouldnt fit without hacking the hell out of my stock dash.

I have to get the steering shaft extended and weld that up next. I have found about 10 ways how NOT to do it lol. Home Depot hold the answer I hope. Might go take care of that later today.

Appreciate it! I gotta move fast. The car has to be going for a cruise and meet in FL early february. Might be a few days for another update. I tailended a F-350 in my daily. F-350>Miata haha. Needles to say I have some bodywork and metal bending ahead on that lil bastard.slick wrote:regular updates have already made this a great build thread...

Been a while, time for an update. I'm a retard and hit the back button while I was typing this all out the FOERST time to this is the condensed version cause I'm lazy.
Corolla's have weak steering angle from the factory. With the manual rack and a little extra work we have tada! normal steering angle like most normal drift cars! Isn't that awesome. Intermediate shaft is finished. That was probably the hardest thing I have ever made. It took about 20 tries before I finally had it welded straight and the right length needed. Nuff talk, crappy pic to show progress:

I rebuilt the tranny (blew 2nd out last season) and installed the clutch and flywheel I have had in the trunk for the past 4 months and dropped the whole sucker in. I also made new hard lines for the brakes and clutch cause of the RHD. I made them almost out of sight, I hate seeing brake lines all over engine bays.

This is something I have been toying with. I love the N2 race cars they run in Japan and since my car is looking more and more like a true race car I figuered I should have a dash that looks the part. That and a OEM RHD one will run me $300+. Thats money that could be better spent. So here is my crude attempt at getting a design down. This is just the base, I'm laying foam down and sanding it to give it some shape. Then I'm going to use the whole thing as a mold and make a new one out of fiberglass. I want something that resembles the stock dash. The 80's were just cool! I'm not happy with the availiable space in the stock dash for gauges and other monitoring equipment so I wanted to change that thus the petruding part in the center. Its crude, but try to visualize the final product and give me some feed back.

My camera makes everything look way stupid. It honestly looks better in person. I had a friend come look at it today and he thought it was awesome, so I guess its a go. 3 yes's from people who's opinion I trust
. Gonna bust ass on it again in a few days and hopefully get the rest of the dash mocked up and ready for glass.
