Running Open-Cat...

Is running open-cat on an N/A KA24DE bad??? I had some kid at NTB tell me that it was...but I've never trusted anyone at NTB about anything other than tires. If it's bad, why?

it's not bad, you just lose power and torque on an NA car.

If drove open header before and it ran okay minus the wicked back fire every time you let off the gas. I will agree on the lose of torque, until you get up to third gear.

It's not a permanent thing. I just lost both bolts between the cat and intermediate pipe while drifting over the last 2 weeks and decided to pull it for the time being. I've considered bolting a 1-in-2-out turbo muffler to the cat and running pipes out right before the rear wheels with those rectangle tips. I can't decide if that'd be rice or not...

why not just get an ebay full exhaust for it? i'd bet they are cheaper than building your own.

There's one that a BUNCH of my S13 buddies use...and I like the way it sounds that was like $175 shipped...but I kinda like the uniqueness of my idea. I don't know what I'm going to do. If I do a full exhaust, I'd like an aggressive angle mounting for the actual tip...which no eBay exhaust I've ever seen provides.

I know you guys mentioned slight power loss in 1st and 2nd...but it seems like it's got MOAR power than when it had the cat-back on. I did a little sliding on the way to work this morning, and normally, I have a bit of a problem doing anything below 30 on my 17s (I think/HOPE it's because I HELLA need a new clutch), but today, it wasn't as bad as usual...

TRUTH!

As a former NTB employee I can attest that they didnt teach me shit! Wal-Mart's TLE at least made me do computer based training (which was no-brainer material anyway).
