got a new daily driver

Post by icantdrift »

so i went browsing yesterday, and ended up with a new car in my driveway :D .

2001 Nissan Frontier crew cab, 4x4. got the guy to go $2500 off the original price so i decided to go for it.

that's the only pic i have so far, crappy camera phone pic from right before i left the dealership. basically i drove up to this dealership yesterday for 2 reasons; a. to go look at this truck and; b. to go rip over blood mountain on my new kumho MX's (whole other story). well i got there and started looking the truck over with a fine toothed comb... if there was a problem i wanted to find it. my only real issues with it were surface corrosion on bare metal parts (truck came from NC), and the cracked front bumper. well after negotiating the price, he calls the nissan dealership and has them send over a brand new front bumper and all hardware for it :D . the other thing that sealed the deal was the fact that he had 2 of his employees follow me home with the truck, one to drive it for me and one for a chase car to go back. i was amazed at this because it's over 70 miles from blairsville to my house, and gas prices are sky high, yet they did it for no charge. it was the most excrutiatingly painful drive through the mountains i've ever had in my car since i had to go the speed limit and wait for bubba and jim bob to follow me, but i can't complain about it too much as it was a great service to me.

so i get it home, run over it with some quick detailer and get it shiny and start playing with stuff. come to find out my cd player doesn't play cd's and the passenger's side window doesn't move to either switch. my fine tooth comb was missing a few teeth i guess  . but overall i'm very happy with my purchase and can't wait until it's time to tow the car to an event or even better: hit up some offroad action :D

asking price was $13,680 and i picked it up for $11,000. between the good price and their willingness to give good service i was all over it. i'm loving driving this thing already, it's already gettin a little slide action here and there.

i test drove an 05 just for fun one day, and if i had the cash i'd be very into the idea of buying one. the new engine is ~100hp stronger and just makes the thing a lot more lively. but, once this thing is paid off i've got plans for it to make it a bit less of a slouch  .
